Review Summary

The laksa is repeatedly praised for its balanced, rich broth, creamy texture, and generous toppings like perfectly cooked shrimp, chicken, tofu and rice noodles. Satay skewers and other dishes are described as flavorful and well prepared, with a lively street-food vibe and efficient, friendly service. The setting at Atwater market is often highlighted, with the restaurant regarded as a Montreal destination for food lovers. A few reviews note high prices for the amount of food or occasional balance issues in some dishes, and one critique mentions a dish that is not authentic or overpriced. Overall Satay Brothers is seen as a standout option for Asian inspired street food with strong repeat visits and many recommendations to try the laksa and the satays, making it worth the trip.

The menu is limited compared to their restaurant on notre dame. However it's one of the best restaurant in the at water market. Their buns are a must!

Lack of hospitality skills from staff. Very Amateurish services. I call this trash cool. You can be cool but with grace. Too expensive for what you get. In addition, where is my chicken meat? noodles? Would you pay that for 20$?

PS: by the way, I gave tips of 15%. I should give none.
PS: lack of hygiene… good luck for the COVID spread

A gem! We went early to make sure we got a seat by the bar. Their food was as good as the reviews. I wish they expanded to Ontario, I would be their regular customer.

The pork belly bao, the satay, the papaya salad & the laksa (super yummy!) were all better than I expected. We asked the server which were popular & we ordered everything from his list.

Service was attentive, friendly & efficient, 10/10!

The papaya salad is a must! The tempeh was SO good on top! It’s sour & sweet & crunchy & minty & delicious!
The bao bun was also good, but I just don’t love super fatty meats. It’s also a bit overpriced, in my opinion (almost $10).
They’re very quick, & have a decent amount of options on the menu.
Super awesome spot.
Only open in the summer.

I saw a picture of their signature soup on one of my friends fb page & it looked very appetizing so I gave it a try.
I had this type of soup before at another restaurant & the combination of coconut milk & spiciness seduced me. That soup was good but the Laks Lemak at the Satay Brothers so sooo much better! They asked me if I wanted it spicy & I said yes. Will not do that again. :-) The broth is so creamy & deliciously oily with flavors of smoked coconut through out. Even though I wasn't hungry when I left I would have liked the bowl to be a bit more full. Also the noodles were surprisingly short which made eating them a bit difficult (but I'm not good with chopsticks to start with).
I will definitely go back to try some of their other specialties. The communal tables outdoors but under a big tent are also great on a hot summer day.

A few weeks ago, the popular Satay Brothers food kiosk from Marché Atwater opened up a permanent location on a dreary stretch of Saint-Jacques Ouest.

The interior is very simple, cozy & intimate, not to mention tiny. There are three communal tables & a small spot on the bar to choose from, just about enough to seat 30 people at most.

The wall menu, written on a chalkboard, features a few fan favorites such as the satay chicken skewers & steam buns, as well as other Southeast Asian dishes & a section for changing specials.

We went with the Tofu Steamed Buns (a hit), Laksa Lemak soup (a classic!) & Mee Goreng noodles (so-so).

Based on tonight's dinner, we can confidently say that the brothers are still on the right track with their new establishment. This one is bound to be a permanent fixture in the burgeoning Saint-Henri neighborhood.
