About

Sardine Rose specializes in authentic Portuguese charcoal-grilled cuisine with a primary focus on fresh seafood and traditional poultry preparations. The kitchen utilizes open-flame grilling techniques to impart a signature smoky depth to whole sardines, octopus, and marinated chicken dishes. Sides typically feature charred vegetables, piri-piri seasoned potatoes, and fresh garden salads dressed in simple olive oil and vinegar emulsions. The dining area emphasizes a functional and straightforward layout designed to accommodate group gatherings centered around robust, communal platters. Metal grills remain the focal point of the culinary process, ensuring consistent textures across all proteins served to guests. This establishment maintains a commitment to the regional staples of coastal Mediterranean cooking while avoiding unnecessary complexity in its preparation methods.

Patrons consistently praise the high quality and generous portions of the dishes, as well as the welcoming and attentive service that defines the dining experience. My husband asked for the grilled chicken & I had the calamar; I asked for garlic butter on the side & the waiter was a bit insulted & said "why would you want to change our recipe?". The chicken was ok - nothing more & not really resembling the authentic Portuguese rub that many Portuguese eateries practice. My calmar was ok - but the sauce was extremely bland. Service was ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The chicken, by the way, was not done completely & parts of it were almost pink. From the outside window looking inside, I noticed that the grill was not very clean & neither were the counters. Three hours later, my husband had something similar to gastroenteritis. I regret I have to write this but in my 50 years of eating at Montreal restaurants, this never happened to me or my husband. The decor is pleasant, but I would much rather prefer for the grill itself to be cleaned every day. The accumulated grease on the grill was quite a sight.

J'ai pris une assiette de calmars & riz. J'ai aimé mon plat. J'ai eu une tartelette comme dessert, ce qui était bien aussi.

Le prix du pichet de sangria est beaucoup trop élevé. (28$).

Service impeccable. J'y retournerai
