Overall, reviews describe Ila as delivering a Philly cheesesteak with fresh ingredients and several standout options like the Super Hero and the paparazzi, with juicy meat and soft bread when the sauce balance is right, though a few visits were drier or had smaller portions and some note higher prices for combos or fries. The vibe is described as cozy and welcoming, and the staff are repeatedly praised for friendliness and efficient service, with recommendations to help diners choose. Many reviewers call Ila one of the best Philly cheesesteaks in Montreal and plan to return to try more of the menu, while a minority mention inconsistencies in portion size, bread texture, and value at busier times.
They say they include some kind of sauce on the sandwich. But I could find no hint of any Sauce & that made the sandwich quite dry. Otherwise, it has the potential to be a very good sandwich.

This place is a real gem 💎… from the minute you walk in the vibes are great the music the service with a great smile & the sandwiches are insanely delicious. I was served by the kindest person named Massoum & her recommendation on my 2 sandwiches was perfect but I definitely will return to try the entire menu. I recommend this place to everyone
Pretty good Philly. Would prefer a crustier bread. Kinda cheap with the fries. Pretty pricey if you get sandwich, drink & fries. Combo option would be nice
First time I went there, I've ordered Super Hero & the taste was amazing. The philly steak was juicy & delicious. But my second experience wasn't like the same at all, they reduced the portion & the taste wasn't the same! It was more sauce than meat!
Unfortunately I cannot recommend to go there by this quality!!
'I had such an amazing sandwich at Ila - bold flavors, perfectly spiced, & full of soul. Bandri sandwich is the best. I'll definitely be back for this one.
ILA is in combination with MONO. The staff are wonderful & helped me choose the best Philly cheesesteak for me, which was delicious in itself, but my favorite part was their fries (which are a serious contender for the best I've had)
My sister & I have been there twice, & we've become a bit'addicted' to the food-just joking 😅. The taste brings back memories & nostalgia. The Gulf sandwich is really good 👍, the waiting time is short, & the atmosphere is quiet & enjoyable.
We've had a great experience there, & we'll definitely go back whenever we want a good sandwich at a reasonable price in downtown.
I went in August 2025 & it was great. It wasn't busy at all so I did not have to queue or wait long. I am so glad I visited. The interior & wall art is super cool, kind of grungey with the spray paint artwork. The cheesesteak I got was warm, the bread (ciabatta I think) was super soft & the pockets just soaked up the sauce perfectly. The messier the tastier!!
