Review Summary

San Sebastian cafe presents a warm, cozy, spacious feel with modern yet comfortable décor and plenty of seating for working, studying or meeting friends late into the night. Reviews praise a broad drinks menu from espresso to lattes and specialty coffees, along with a signature San Sebastian cheesecake available with pistachio, chocolate or lotus biscoff toppings that many call creamy and indulgent though some note it can be very sweet or pricey. The atmosphere is described as friendly and welcoming, with helpful staff and a vibe that suits both focused work and relaxed conversation. A few observations point to cleanliness issues in the floors or restrooms and occasional slower service during busy periods. Overall the cafe is seen as a standout dessert spot in Montreal, highly recommended for the cheesecake, hot chocolate and the inviting ambience, and many say they would return with friends to enjoy the desserts, drinks and comfortable space.

Cheesecake was okay, however, a bit bland & bitter without sauce. Also, consider the price. One slice costs $8.99 & any sauce costs $0.99 extra. Paid a total of $17 for one slice & a small pot of tea. Service was quite slow & not a lot of space to sit as people stay hours with their laptops. Also, why does there need to be a BIG flag of Syria in the window?

Tried their San Sebastian cheesecake with Biscoff sauce during a BOGO offer. Texture-wise, it felt much closer to a regular cheesecake rather than a true Basque cheesecake. I was expecting a gooey center & didn't really get that, which was a bit disappointing since that's my personal preference. Taste-wise, it was fine but nothing particularly standout, it was very similar to a standard cheesecake. The cake itself has a good level of sweetness on its own, but with the Biscoff sauce it becomes overly sweet. For the BOGO price, it's a decent deal, but at full price I probably wouldn't order it again.

The cafe is lovely, but the cheese cake is expensive, & too sweet & watery. A small piece of cheese cake costs 10$. It is not worth it at all!!

Stumbled upon San Sebastian Café on a cold night & so glad we did. The San Sebastian cake with dark chocolate sauce was incredible - rich, not overly sweet, just perfect. They have great decaf options too. The interior & ambience are beautiful. The staff was very sweet & welcoming. A perfect end to the evening. Highly recommend.

Absolutely LOVED!! this place. Visiting from outside the city. Great cheese cake not at all too sweet & I had it paired with biscoff topping & it was perfect not at all too sweet & went well together.

The atmosphere was super chill, warm & relaxing. We got the steeped tea to accompany the dessert & it was great.

Would definitely return in future & would recommend to anyone looking for a good relaxing warms dessert location in Montreal.

The cafe is beautiful & a really nice place to sit & work, study, or spend time with friends. The atmosphere is cozy & inviting. However, I wasn't very impressed with the food. I tried their famous cheesecake with pistachio sauce, & it was too sweet for my taste. The cheesecake was also quite expensive, so overall it just wasn't for me.

I enjoy the Saint Sébastien cheesecake I always order it with pistachio cream & chocolate cream, which makes the taste delicious & extraordinary. We also tried their pistachio latte which was delicious & I always like their homeland tea. I like this place & whenever I cry for cheesecake or Saint Sébastien cheesecake I'll go there.

My friend & I walked into San Sebastián Café by pure chance, & it turned out to be one of the best surprises of the day. We were simply looking for a place to sit, but instead we found an absolutely delicious cheesecake that felt like a little piece of heaven. The texture was creamy, the flavor perfectly balanced-not too sweet, not too heavy-& the presentation was beautiful.
The ambiance of the café made the experience even better. Warm lighting, cozy seating, & a relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. The staff were genuinely friendly & welcoming, which added to the charm of the place.
If you're in Montréal & craving a good dessert or just a cozy spot to unwind, San Sebastián Café is definitely worth a visit. A delightful find & a new favorite!

It's not terrible but I was expecting better from the Basque cheesecake since that's their signature item.

Tried cheesecake with the pistachio cream on top, it was delicious! The cake was fresh, & the coffee & black tea were excellent too.
Definitely coming back to try other toppings next time!
