Last night, I had dinner at Ryu Griffintown with my daughter, & we both had such a lovely evening.
The food was excellent. Everything tasted fresh, especially the fish, & the dishes were beautifully prepared without feeling overly complicated. It certainly isn't an inexpensive restaurant, but in my opinion, the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food & the care that goes into it.
Partway through our dinner, a very large group of about twenty people arrived, many of them young children. Naturally, the restaurant became quite busy all at once. There were only two people handling most of the service, so you could see that they had their hands full, but I was genuinely impressed by the way everyone worked together.
Our waiter, Rudy, was wonderful. He continued checking on us throughout the evening & made sure we had everything we needed. The manager was helping by bringing out food & assisting wherever necessary, & even the hostess who had seated us was carrying plates & bringing water to tables. Everyone simply pitched in.
Having eaten in many restaurants over the years, I tend to notice these little details. A sudden group of that size, especially with so many children, can be very challenging for any restaurant. The service may have slowed slightly at moments, which was completely understandable, but we never felt forgotten or poorly treated.
Later, I came to understand that the large group was the owner dining with his family. What impressed me even more was that the staff still continued taking care of the rest of the restaurant rather than focusing all of their attention on that one table.
I also happened to read the recent negative review, & I must say that it simply does not reflect the experience my daughter & I had. I certainly would not describe the staff as rude or the service as poor. Quite the opposite. I saw a small team working very hard under difficult circumstances while remaining pleasant & attentive.
We had a wonderful evening, enjoyed very fresh food, & were especially impressed by the effort of Rudy & the entire team. I would happily return.

Had an amazing night here everything was beautifully presented & full of flavor. They really never disappoint. Ryu Griffintown is the only sushi in town that my wife eats while pregnant because its so fresh. The wagyu dumplings are incredible. The DJ, Malka, brought such a great vibe that made the whole experience even better. Perfect spot for good food & a fun night out!!
Mr. Dj Malka, rocks my world. The quality of the sushi, the ambiance, the service, the music, hands down my fave go to for a girls' night out. Only this Ryu, this is the best Ryu in Griffintown. I have never been disappointed, this establishment is top notch & a staple joint in MTL.
Rug Griffintown has amazing food. Wagyu tacos were good. Sushi was great. My only issue was the entertainer. The guy's name is Charlie. He was kind of overwhelming. I liked the restaurant, but I don't want to be bombarded with Charlie everytime I go there.
Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever been to, right here in Griffintown! The food was absolutely outstanding - every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, & bursting with flavor. The tartares were some of the best I've ever had, & the A5 Wagyu tataki was next-level - melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The drinks complemented the food perfectly & elevated the entire experience.
On top of the incredible food, the service made the night unforgettable. Michael went above & beyond to make sure everything was perfect. His attention to detail, professionalism, & genuine care turned a great dinner into an amazing experience. Because of him, I've already decided this will be my go-to spot for future business meetings & events.

Ryu Griffintown delivers exceptional Japanese cuisine, but the truffle salmon sushi with mushroom steals the show-rich, earthy, & the best sushi I've ever had. The place has an amazing atmosphere.
I had an exceptional New Year's Eve experience at Ryu a couple nights ago! This restaurant was recommended by a number of different people & I have to admit, their sushi was hands down the best I've had in Montreal. I wish I took pics! The service was equally outstanding; the staff were so so friendly, & ensured every detail was perfect. Highly recommend Ryu, particularly the Griffintown location one! Ryu in Griffintown is a cozy & wonderful restaurant with great staff & incredible service. We sat in the lounge area which was quite an experience & the staff was always on their feet & inquiring about the food. We started with the miso soup followed by Wagyu dumplings & it was beyond delicious! I ordered the Salmon & Tuna tartare & the presentation was beyond wonderful for I've never been served salmon & tuna tartare in that fashion. It was beyond tasty :) My partner had Shirayuki & we loved it too :) For dessert, we had the vegan mochi & it came in 3 wonderful flavors ! Would highly recommend this place as it's a perfect venue for a date night or chilling with friends. A 10/10 restaurant ❤️
