Review Summary

Royal Punjab is described as a go-to spot for rich, authentic Punjabi and Indian flavors, with standout dishes such as chole bhatura, bhatura, masala dosa and paneer dosa, along with excellent naan and dal makhani, and the thali often called spectacular; the atmosphere is warm and the service fast and friendly, and the value consistently praised, helped by a cozy layout that encourages conversation or even work, plus a breezy window seat noted by some; while dessert is frequently disappointing and a few main dishes can be a touch salty or have texture quirks, the overall impression is that this is affordable, home-style Indian cooking and among the best in Montreal, a favorite for dine-in or takeout with reliable quality.

I love this place. The server who is most often there, Manjit, is SO sweet, lovely, & accommodating. The food is amazing, & the thali deal can't be beat. Such good value for beautiful, flavourful & nourishing meals every time. There is also a (?) magic window where, on even the most stifling of days, maintains a consistent breeze through it. Snag the window seat if you can! Excellent food/service/value. One of Montreal's best Punjabi restaurants hands down!

5 of us were seated by the kind waitress, Manjit, in a cozy corner of the restaurant where we could relax, have conversation & dine. The atmosphere was well arranged to allow us space to talk & for others to work on their computer or chat with friends. The TV was not too loud. We knew what we wanted to order. The waitress, Manjit, was genuinely pleased that we knew what we wanted because she loves her Punjabi culture & wanted us to share & enjoy Punjabi food. & what a selection! They had Dosas which ordinarily come from Southern India. Punjabi cultural experience is Northern India. They had Indian street food like chat papri. We enjoyed fish pakoras. The chai was homemade & not from the machine which combines powdered milk & tea mixed with spices. The mango lassi was excellent.
All the other servers were very friendly & seemed to enjoy seeing us Westerners enjoying the food. Such integration of two cultures makes businesses like this succeed. & staff at Royal Punjabi on Jarry St. excelled at making our experience wholesome & amazing.

This restaurant is my favourite in the neighbourhood, I make sure to bring every visitor & friend here at least once. If I don't go at least once monthly I sincerely start to feel like my life/stomach/heart is missing something essential. Everytime I go I'm greeted by Manjit who is the absolute sweetest ! Cannot recommend enough. Affordable & delicious !
