I recently visited this place because word-of-mouth touted its chole bhatura - & they really deliver. The chole was rich & well-seasoned, & the bhatura came fluffy, warm, & perfectly puffed. Hands down some of the best chole bhatura I've had in a while.
That said, I'd recommend skipping dessert: the sweets we tried were disappointing - bland, underwhelming, & a major let-down after such a strong main dish. If you're there, go for the savory dishes & say no to the sweets.
Overall: great for a solid Indian meal - especially if you crave chole bhatura - but don't expect much from the dessert menu.
5 of us were seated by the kind waitress, Manjit, in a cozy corner of the restaurant where we could relax, have conversation & dine. The atmosphere was well arranged to allow us space to talk & for others to work on their computer or chat with friends. The TV was not too loud. We knew what we wanted to order. The waitress, Manjit, was genuinely pleased that we knew what we wanted because she loves her Punjabi culture & wanted us to share & enjoy Punjabi food. & what a selection! They had Dosas which ordinarily come from Southern India. Punjabi cultural experience is Northern India. They had Indian street food like chat papri. We enjoyed fish pakoras. The chai was homemade & not from the machine which combines powdered milk & tea mixed with spices. The mango lassi was excellent.
All the other servers were very friendly & seemed to enjoy seeing us Westerners enjoying the food. Such integration of two cultures makes businesses like this succeed. & staff at Royal Punjabi on Jarry St. excelled at making our experience wholesome & amazing.
Royal Punjab Restaurant is a hidden gem & easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal! The food is rich, authentic, & full of traditional flavors. Their baby goat curry is hands down the best in the city - tender, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. The staff is always welcoming, & the atmosphere is warm & inviting. Whether you're dining in or taking out, you can count on a top-quality meal every time. Highly recommended for anyone craving real, home-style Indian cooking!

As a Brit abroad I'm always looking for great Indian food. This place ticks all the boxes; affordable, tasty & authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend.
My favorite go to indian restaurant in Montreal. I brought some friends visiting from out of town on Sunday evening. Amazing dishes, affordable & very kind service. Highly recommend
My family orders from there often. We tried every other indian restaurant on that street. Today we ordered something new to us: Chicken Bhuna. Absolutely delicious. The chicken melted in the mouth. Same with our usual Lamb Korma. Truly delicious, & great service. Highly Recommended. I saw some negative reviews - Can't believe them...
They have the best chana bhature in Canada. We went there for the first time. It only took 15 mins. It was so yum. Definitely would go back. It's not expensive at all like other Indian restaurants. But customer service is questionable. Either change your staff or learn how to serve customers in polite & professional ways
