I recently went to Coco Rico, & I honestly can't stop thinking about how good the food was. This place delivers on every level - flavor, value, & overall experience - & it's one of those restaurants you immediately want to tell people about after your first visit.
I ordered the chicken sandwich with potatoes, & it was absolutely outstanding. The chicken itself was perfectly cooked: juicy, tender, & packed with flavor. You can really tell it's prepared with care & experience - nothing dry, nothing bland, just incredibly satisfying from the first bite to the last. The potatoes that came with it were just as impressive. They were creamy, rich, & comforting in the best way possible, almost melting in your mouth, & paired perfectly with the chicken. Together, it felt like a simple dish done exceptionally well.
The staff deserve a huge amount of praise. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, & genuinely happy to help. You never feel rushed or ignored, & that warmth really adds to the experience. It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable right away, whether it's your first visit or your tenth.
One of the most impressive things about Coco Rico is how amazingly affordable everything is. For the quality of food you're getting, the prices are more than fair - & the portions are huge. You leave feeling full, satisfied, & genuinely surprised at how much value you got for your money. It's rare to find a place that combines generous portions, great prices, & excellent food so consistently.
This is absolutely a spot I would recommend to all family & friends. It's perfect for a casual meal, a comforting lunch, or even bringing someone who's never tried Portuguese-style chicken before. Speaking of which - if you love Portuguese food, this place is a must. The flavors, the preparation, & the overall heart behind the cooking really shine through.
Coco Rico is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why you love discovering great local spots. Delicious food, amazing value, friendly staff, & a meal that leaves you happy & already planning your next visit. Everyone should try this place at least once - chances are, once won't be enough.
After having a great meal at this place, I went over to Champs & got zooted in $5 PBRs
Impressive portions! The family meal portion & taste was great value for the price. I am impressed. Not many places offer this much in 2026! Ordered online too, I was expecting lower quality & smaller portions. They honestly surprised me & I will definitely save to store & order again! The chicken was tender, skin was crispy, bread & salads were fresh, & I think I got a full 4 pound bag of potatoes hahaha! Not even kidding! How is this even possible!? Loved it! Highly recommend!
A very tasty Putine, with special potatoes, but the chicken isn't that great; it's dry; & the atmosphere is a bit run-down & depressing. Very good water bread & pickles.
The chicken was decent, but not particularly memorable.
If I had to compare, the Portuguese chicken place next door was noticeably juicier. The chicken here felt a bit dry, possibly due to the cooking method, though it's hard to say for sure.
Overall, it was a perfectly acceptable meal, just without that'wow' factor or anything that really stood out.
That said, the roasted potatoes were quite good - especially when dipped in the chicken oil, which added a lot of flavor & was definitely the highlight of the meal.

We ordered a tray of ribs & potatoes for the Grey Cup. They were so wonderful to help with the order & it arrived hot & delicious. We are from the USA & CoCo Rico is a must have when we come to town. Absolutely wonderful.
Natas 6 for 18$ no! They don't look good anyway. They need to be more cook on top. Chicken no flavour same for potatoes.
the chicken & roasted potatoes are delicious & you get a ton of food! we had to ask for a to go box because we couldnt eat it all! We have been to montreal twice & both times we have eaten here! will come again!
Whenever I'm in Montreal I always go to Coco Rico to have a delicious chicken sandwich with roasted potatoes & salad.
Rotisserie chicken was very good - fall off the bone as you go - & the potatoes were good as well. The only thing that would prevent me from coming back is that Rotisserie Romados a few blocks over is better - chicken is comparable but Coco Rico has less sides.
Oldest Portuguese chicken in Montreal & still the best. Chicken has so much flavor & crisp skin that's amazing . Don't forget the potatoes & the ribs were unreal. Also the rolls are huge & light
Holy moly! Stumbled in there to get a family chicken meal. The food was great, though I must say. No joke, they gave me enough potatoes to end a 18th century famine. Like seriously, the bag was overflowing with potatoes. Not complaining, I love a good spud, but holy hell, who is going to eat 25lbs of little golden delicious, well seasoned, chicken fat absorbed goodness. It was so comical, my family ended up having a potato fight in our Airbnb. We'll likely get in trouble for the potato splatter on the walls but damn, that was fun. Will return!!!
Excellent chicken, great potatoes, very fast & courteous service. Prices are more than reasonable, bigger portions downright cheap. Loved this place & their food.
An absolutely insane amount of food for a small price. Enough to feed an army. The family meal gets you a full chicken (ours was a little dry), one of their salads (we picked chickpea + feta - delicious!), & probably 20 pounds of fries (!!) I would suggest their roasted potatoes which I took as a side & they were to die for. Overall $32 can get you enough food for easily 6 people.
We went to one of the more famous Portuguese chicken places & were really disappointed. We immediately went to Coco Rico (which I used to eat at years ago & remembered fondly) & had a WAY better experience. Don't sleep on Coco Rico. The chicken leg & potatoes are top-notch. People are great. Food amazing. Get a Brio.
Forget Ma Poulle blah blah blah. Go here instead.
I don't know what the history of this place is but it has the marks of a restaurant with tenure. Typical rotisserie menu featuring sandwiches & BBQ plates. Obviously the star of the show here is the meat, but they also have the best Portugese style roast potatoes I've had in Montreal. I love the texture of those balls of goodness, my favourite form of potato after the unbeatable french fry. Slim seating options so takeaway is likely a common option. Prices are good for these times especially for quality, freshly cooked food like this.
GOD BLESS THE FAMILY MEAL😭😭😭 potatoes are so good for some reason. I would go here for the potatoes alone. It's a small space & the line can be long at times but they're very efficient- it's like a conveyor belt. The staff are also happy to give recommendations & I appreciate that they're able to tell you about the ingredients & how things are cooked even though they may or may not be the ones doing the cooking. It's practically takeout only just because it's such a small store with minimal seating, but you might as well eat outside while the weather is good anyway.
