Review Summary

Restaurant Shing Kee is widely regarded as a hidden gem in the West Island, celebrated for its authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine, including standout dishes like the General Tao chicken, wonton soup, and peanut butter dumplings. Diners frequently praise the generous portion sizes, reasonable pricing, and the added convenience of being a bring your own wine establishment. While the atmosphere is simple and casual, the welcoming nature of the staff and the consistency of the fresh, flavorful meals make it a favorite for many local families. Although some visitors have noted occasional challenges with pickup wait times or service speed during peak hours, the majority of patrons highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking high quality, homemade style Asian dishes in a comfortable, community focused setting.

Good authentic Chinese food.

The West Island has quite few Chinese restaurants. After a long search we found Shing Kee to be the one that brings back the memory of the Chinese restaurants we once knew. Past the dated decor, we enjoyed excellent hot & sour soup, dumplings with peanut butter sauce, chicken soo guy, rice noodles & beef in black bean sauce. All were delicious.

Not recommended. If I could give zero stars I would.

The staff are the most rude people ever.

The food is very plain.

Sketchy restaurant parking. Mediocre food. Worst service ever. They don't want to work. They are reluctant to seat you & serve you. They gossip about customers in Chinese.

Probably one of the worst restaurants I've had in Montreal. The food is not good at all. The employees are very rude. They don't want to seat or serve you & they will gossip about you in Chinese.

UPDATE: Service is not at par at all. Waited forever to order. They don't seem to care.

My go to Asian restaurant. Food is very tasty. Portions are good for the most part. I mainly do takeout. Staff at the counter can be rude at times but at least 99% of my order has been excellent.
