The preparation emphasizes distinct heat levels and balanced textures characteristic of regional South Asian culinary heritage. This establishment prioritizes consistent flavor profiles and traditional plating techniques while maintaining a standard selection of regional beverages and cooling condiments that complete the savory experience for every visitor seeking these specific culinary traditions.
Restaurant Kuljit India is widely recognized as a go-to destination for authentic, high-quality Punjabi cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its fresh flavors, generous portions, and budget-friendly prices. Many guests appreciate the homely, traditional style of the dishes, with standouts like chana bhatura, biryani, and samosas earning consistent acclaim. While the dining experience is often described as warm and welcoming, some visitors note inconsistencies in service, occasional issues with restaurant maintenance, and varying experiences with spice levels or dish consistency. Despite mixed feedback regarding staff friendliness and the aging decor, the restaurant remains a popular choice for those seeking reliable, tasty, and affordable Indian food.
We visited this restaurant on July 18, & it exceeded our expectations. The service was quick, accurate, & friendly-something that many restaurants struggle to deliver consistently. The prices were very reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants in Ottawa. The fresh naan, delicious butter chicken, & outstanding fish pakora were all highlights of our meal. The owner & staff were warm, welcoming, & attentive, making us feel right at home. We'll definitely be coming back!
I tried the butter chicken, samosas, the naan bread & the mango lassi (to wash down the spice) & they were absolutely amazing. The service was also excellent. I will for sure be back soon & I'd highly recommend you to give it a try!

never ate something i didn't like here, & whenever i bring people who aren't big fans of indian food, they have always finished their plate! lamb, chicken, samosas, naan, everything is perfect
Today, we took our friends to this restaurant for a party, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. First of all, the staff service was extremely poor. The staff was not welcoming at all, there was no smile on their faces, & the way food was served felt careless & disrespectful. It almost felt like they were upset with us for no reason.
When we showed our dissatisfaction, there was no regret or concern on their faces, & no effort was made to improve the situation.
Coming to the food quality, it was also below expectations. We ordered some starters, & for dinner we ordered curries & naan. The appetizers had no taste at all, & the main course was bland. Even the naan did not feel fresh.
The most disappointing part was that despite such poor service & average food, the bill was very high, which was not at all justified according to the quality & service provided.
Overall, after spending so much money, we were not satisfied at all. We would not recommend this restaurant. The management seriously needs to work on staff behavior, service quality, food taste, & pricing.
I'm a vegetarian & could vouch only for that. We tried, garlic naan, butter naan(which were hard to chew), & being a South Indian, requested spicy curries, but still they were not anywhere being near. Sorry for the harsh review, but the food was not as expected as my friend's recommendation.
Tout était délicieux : poulet au beurre, samosas, pakora aux légumes, pain naan... Service rapide. Sauces à volonté pour les entrées. Abordable. Je recommande !
