Excellent food in an unassuming location that, like a Tardis, is bigger on the inside than it appears. Authentic Portuguese beers complement the roasted meats. Large, fluffy buns arrive at your table as soon as you are seated. Atmosphere is simple & friendly. Prices are surprisingly good compared to other neighboring restaurants. Excellent choice if you enjoy traditional Portuguese food. Only disappointment was the fries: not bad, but traditional Portuguese roasted potatoes would have been nicer than fries you'd find pretty much anywhere else. Hot sauce had a very nice kick & helped improve the fries somewhat.
I came here after watching a video suggesting to visit this restaurant. As I entered, we got seated right away. The place had a good amount of locals dining in. The service was great at the beginning but after food was served it was pretty slow. It took a while for us to get the bill as there was only 2 waiters.
We got the half leg with fries & the combo w chicken & pork. You get a salad & the dressing was amazing! I got the soup, it was good & different. Also ordered, the sangria (tasted like juice), flan (definitely not my favorite - it was just too bitter).
The chicken leg is hands down the best I’ve had - always so tender & tasty! If you haven’t tried Portuguese chicken, this is definitely the place to go. You also definitely need to get a Nata dessert to top it all off - they’re not too heavy & just the right amount of custardy yumminess! :)

Nice atmosphere... Tables are close to each other but sat next to a lovely couple. Good was good. Had grilled shrimp to start which was good. Main course of grilled chicken breast & chorizo sausage & fries which was also good. Good & attentive wait staff.
I had a horrible experience in this restaurant from the minute I stepped in after placing my order from one of the crew members. First, I couldn't eat in the restaurant as we were not allowed to take our pet inside due to the rules of the restaurant which is completely understood & respected. Accordingly, we placed an order to go & waited outside. During the time, I went inside to use the washroom but was told not to use it since I'm not a customer so I showed the crew member my receipt but apparently he didn't like the fact that I'm eligible to use it as per their rules & called me "rude". I felt offended & asked for the manager to submit a complaint but he denied that the manager is around. So I told him that it's wrong to do so. During my conversation with him I noticed that they allowed another lady who was not a customer to use the washroom. I confronted him & finally the manager joined the discussion to mediate things around. But the crew member was referring to me saying "I'm an immigrant too" which was so racist.

Was a montreal friend ,who invited us to jano. We all loved it
They are open for over 40 years ,with great grilled foods no wonder open 40 years i recomend this portuguese restaurant

J'adore cet endroit, nous y allons depuis des années. Nous prenons toujours la même commande, l'assiette de 5 viandes au choix pour 2 personnes, pour laquelle nous commandons 3x du poulet & 2x des crevettes. Ca peut sembler bizarre, mais les autres viandes/poissons ne sont jamais aussi bonnes que cette combinaison alors avec les années c'est devenu notre habitude! Cette semaine, nous nous sommes rendus avec un couple d'amis (puisque ça fait des mois qu'on leur parle du meilleur poulet portugais à Montréal), mais ils ont refusé de nous servir cette commande.
Évidemment, j'ai demandé depuis quand cette règle était en vigueur. C'était un nouveau au service. Alors, il s'est informé auprès d'un des habitués (parmi les plus jeunes de la famille propriétaire), & il a osé me répondre, «depuis toujours». Alors qu'il nous a déjà servi cette assiette.
Nul besoin de vous dire que j'ai trouvé le service à la clientèle déplorable dans cette situation.
