Discover Emilia, a Portuguese diner in the heart of Villeray with creative cuisine, where abundance is in the spotlight.
Established in 2018, Cantine Emilia aims to change the way Portuguese dishes are served in Montreal. With a local "twist", they have made going beyond the trends a point of honor. Emilia offers an explosive menu where both adventurers and fans of the classics will be satisfied.
Restaurant Emilia is described as offering fresh chicken and rice bowls with flavorful sauces and a welcoming atmosphere. The dishes are praised for taste and generous portions by many, though some note rising prices and smaller portions in recent visits. Sauces and the core Portuguese inspired flavors are frequently highlighted as standout features. Service is consistently praised for friendliness and professionalism, but occasional longer wait times and inconsistencies like fries arriving cold or chicken drying out are mentioned. Overall the reviews point to a strong go-to option for tasty, hearty meals with plans to return, while a few diners feel the value for money has diminished.
We were in the mood for some poke bowl chicken but the Le Medeiros bowl had max 1/4 in pieces. The rice & salad with the spicy sauce we chose with the bowl was excellent. I will try their entire chicken from their menu next time , hopefully that will be much better.

This was not a shining experience but it was likely circumstantial to the kitchen staff at the time. I ordered the Tia Natal, a grilled cheese featuring portugese chicken, chorizo & cheese curds. This sandwich by itself totaled to about $20 after tax & tip. I will say that the cashier gave me great service. For the price though, this sandwich was disappointing. A grilled cheese is supposed to hold together. Since this was relying on cheese curds, they did not get them to sufficiently melt so the sandwich was falling apart. Wait time was a bit long & it seemed overdone as well so the cook likely left it on the grill for too long while doing something else. Dish came with a mountain of tasty fries which at least ensured that I was full from the meal but I really wish I had chosen a different sandwich or someone else made it.
Fries arrived cold & it's 30C outside today, chicken lost all of its moisture... parts like drumstick, wings were completely dried, sauce was dried... I ordered in the past & it's typically a complete different experience but IDK... why serve cold fries & dry chicken ???

I've ordered from uber eats, & dined in for lunch & dinner. In all experiences Emilia's chicken is amazing & their bowls are a great healthier option compared to a lot of uber eats choices in the area!
Staff is kind, & their sauce bottles are a must to buy & bring home!
I ordered 2 Portuguese poutines. She asked me spicy or not. I said Can I have on the side in those small plastic cup. She said no I have to charge you extra for it ... I mean Come On I'm buying 45$ for 2 poutines!. Plus they are smaller than before (almost half size) & on top of it they don't have anymore the Sao Jorge cheese curds on it so now it's just a regular poutine with some chicken en sausage. So thank you for the good memories. I'm giving 2* because it was edible & the place is always clean inside
My mother & i shared the half chicken meal. There are four big chunks of a chicken, we ordered oven baked potato instead of fries. The food is delicious with Amelie's special sauce. The service is adequate. I like the interior design, nice colors & decorations. Very clean bathroom. Will definitely stop by again.

It's okay. It could be better, fresher & have more interesting plates. I took an Emilia bowl, chicken & chorizo, its a 7/10. Lack of flavours & variety in my opinion. Service is also okay, the cashier completes all his uber orders before serving anyone waiting to order at the restaurant(doesn't make much sense).
Absolutely delicious. We have ordered via ubereats. Chicken was nice & juicy. Best portugais chicken I have ever tasted !!Their chorizo was real bomb ❤️❤️
We ordered the bowls for takeout. It was flavorful, but the downside is that it's extremely salty. I can literally make the same portion of unseasoned chicken & rice & mix it together & it'll be perfect. This amount of salt is not healthy.
I order from here for our office at least once a month. Food's great & I never get any complaints. The regular chicken plate, crispy chicken sandwich, homemade chips & roasted potatoes are all really good.

Very nice & comfortable place to eat, plenty of variety. We went specifically for their Vegan Chicken sandwich. Nicely seasoned with a Portuguese bun & the seasoned fries are of the chart. Everyone enjoyed the meal & our non vegan guest loved there chicken legs. I will definitely go back again & looking forward to our next visit. Just an FYI if your visiting the city & don’t read French the staff are so amazing & walk you through the French menu.
