We went on a Sunday morning, the restaurant was not crowded, around 6 or 7 tables , the service was good, prices are ok food was ok. The restaurant is large, I hope they fill it in other time periods. Good for a new restaurant, I hope they prosper day after dayView more
We visited Restaurant Dostan as we were hankering for a good & hearty breakfast & boy oh boy, were we glad that we did. To start off, they are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Once you step inside, there is a lot of seating space & the restaurant feels bright & airy due to the large windows. We ordered the following: 1. Omelette Vegetarienne - filled with fresh veggies & cheese - this tasted the best 2. Omelette Bucheron - stuffed with beef, chicken bacon, sausages & cheese - very filling, struggled to finish 3. Crepes Delices - Fraises-choco noisette & creme patissiere - the usual Nutella crepe but came with fresh fruit - large portion 4. Crepes Delices - Aux fruits des champs & creme patissiere - fresh fruit, condensed milk & whipped cream - big portion size again Special mention to the coffee as well. It was strong & very tasty. Refills were done promptly. We even requested extra butter for the toast & it was complied with without any fuss. This is a beautiful restaurant with some great food. We will mark this one our go-to anytime we are either back in Montreal or even if we happen to drive down on our way to Ottawa or Quebec City. ******************************************************************* We loved the food so much that we went back again the next day!! This time, we had: 1. Trois oeufs avec bacon poulet 2. Crepes Delices - Fraises-choco noisette & creme patissiere 3. Sofra Brunch - came with tasty beans, semolina (suji) halwa, thinly sliced beef, a beef sausage & a plain crepe 4. Watandar - a tasty Bolani & a well executed kofta (meatball) curry, also had a small portion of rice pudding Once again, the coffee was great, the restaurant is very bright & airy & the service was quick & efficient. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Montreal.View more

We went to Restaurant Dostan for Brunch & it was alright. I decided to be adventurous & get their Watandar while my partner got the Dostan. Because they only had French menus, I had to rely on the pictures & the help of the waitress. I ended up wanting to try their traditional breakfast, rather than just getting a two eggs item I could order from any place. Ultimately, my palate is not attuned to this type of food, so I didn't enjoy it very much, but I can definitely appreciate different parts of the meal & the speed with which the food came out. Just like other reviews mention, the plates really are full of food & the prices for breakfast are not too expensive either. That being said, I feel like Restaurant Dostan was just missing some quality control elements that would improve the experience of going to their restaurant. For example, their bananas still had the phloem on them, which is not what I'd expect from a fruit bowl. There were a few things under our table, like a piece of a strawberry & an empty jam spread container. Additionally, staff started rearranging furniture in the restaurant, which gave us the enjoyable sound of chairs dragged across the floor with our meal. If they focused on patron experience, I think the experience would be better.View more
View more
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, & excellent, friendly service by both wait staff (Essa & Kai). I have been there twice while visiting family. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.View more

The food was excellent. The only not-so-perfect thing was that took around 25 minutes to get our three dishes. But the wait was worthwhile, I guess. We ordered one Païcha Palaw & two Qabuli Palaw with beef stew. All three dishes were perfectly cooked. We went there for lunch, at around 1 PM, on a Tuesday, & there were around ten guests.View more
A little extra pricey 🤑 had better in a lot less priceView more

View more
Do not slap your hostess/waiter in the face SO *hard* that everyone can hear it across the restaurant. Do not slap anyone in public. Do not slap your child. Do not slap your adult child. Do not slap your employees. Do not slap. PERIOD. Do not try to excuse your slap by saying you were trying to calm down your daughter. Do not allow arguments between staff & patrons to escalate into physical altercations. Do not keep arguing & justifying such actions in front of customers. Do not ignore the outrage of other patrons who were disturbed by this incident. I excused the long wait a little because there was a power surge in the city, which brought out a lot of people, & the establishment was not ready to serve that many patrons. Due to this big influx of people, some meals & ingredients were unavailable. The waiter specified to us that certain ingredients were out, & when we asked for replacements with equivalent items from the menu, she refused, stating that she didn't decide these things & showed no willingness to fix the problem. Despite the lack of ingredients, they still wanted us to pay the full price without offering any suitable replacements. Additionally, when I took my order, some items were missing. There was confusion as I mentioned the missing items to one waiter, who said the other waiter would bring them, but they never arrived. The service was disorganized & poor. Moreover, there were only two waiters & the hostess, who left for a few minutes after the slap incident. One of the waiters was running around, sweating, & putting in a lot of effort, while the other lazed around, which happened to be the same one who didn't bother to fix my meal with the missing ingredient. Overall, the service was pretty bad, & a better effort could have been made despite the power surge. To add to the chaos, after the slap, several patrons were outraged & loudly expressed their anger, telling the mother (the cook) that she should leave & that such behavior was unacceptable. One patron even went to the counter near the kitchen, threatening to call 911, stating, "You can't slap someone across the face in public!" Instead of acknowledging her mistake, the mother continued to argue & justify her actions.View more
