Review Summary

Reviews of Qing Hua Dumpling consistently highlight fresh, flavorful dumplings with a wide variety of fillings and generous portions. The service is frequently described as professional, attentive, and efficient, even during busy times. Hygiene and cleanliness are often praised, though one former employee's account raised serious concerns about sanitation and management practices. The atmosphere is described as lively and bustling in Chinatown, with some noting that it can be loud and not particularly cozy. Standout dishes include shrimp and chive dumplings, pork varieties, lamb, and the highly praised soup dumplings, with many recommending the chef's surprise or chef's choice as a fun, mixed experience but suggesting to stick to favorites. Value for money and fast service are commonly cited, while a few reviews mention inconsistency across dishes and occasional service hiccups. Overall Qing Hua Dumpling is seen as a reliable go to spot for dumplings in the area, known for freshness and variety and a dining experience that reflects a busy, welcoming neighborhood vibe.

A really good restaurant in Chinatown to go to when craving dumplings 😇😇 The staff is super welcoming & gracious & has the best service ever as they are always on their feet & answering questions. We started with Peanut wonton (shrimp) which were so delicious & then moved onto steamed dumplings where I had the Lamb & Green Onion dumplings while my husband had Beef & Coriander dumplings & each bite was wow ❤?❤? So well made & juicy & our full compliments to the chef 😇😇 Cannot wait to come back to this incredible 11/10 restaurant & try other dumplings on the menu 🙏🙏

Overall, the experience was very good. While the atmosphere may not be the most stylish or visually appealing, the warmth & kindness of the staff more than made up for it. The service was truly exceptional, friendly, attentive, & welcoming throughout.

The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors & generous portions. A great spot for anyone wanting to explore & enjoy a genuine Chinatown dining experience.

Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for great food & heartfelt service!

I used to frequent their Lincoln Street spot near Concordia-always my go-to for meals with friends, & it never disappointed. Even with new competitors, no other dumpling place matches their quality & taste. Fried or steamed, everything's excellent-especially the lamb & coriander, pork-leek-shrimp, & even the tofu. The Chinatown location has a great vibe & faster service than ever. Wishing them continued success!

As a self-proclaimed dumpling aficionado, I couldn't resist stopping by Qing Hua Dumpling in Chinatown Montreal for dinner. Known for their fresh dumplings made to order, this spot is a go-to for many, & I finally had the chance to see what the hype was all about. We ordered the Chef's Special Dumplings & the classic Shrimp, Pork, & Chive Dumplings. Let me start with the standout: the shrimp dumplings. These were everything I could hope for-plump, juicy, & bursting with flavor. The shrimp & pork combo was perfectly balanced, with the chives adding that subtle aromatic kick. The dumpling skin was the right thickness, holding the filling together without overpowering the bite. Absolute perfection! Now, onto the Chef's Special. Unfortunately, this one didn't live up to the name. While the dumplings were good, they lacked the wow factor I was expecting, especially compared to the shrimp dumplings. The flavors were a bit muted, & I kept wishing for that extra pop that never came. A bonus point? They accept cashless payments, which makes the whole experience more convenient! Pro tip: Stick with the classics here-they're classics for a reason. The shrimp, pork, & chive dumplings are definitely worth the trip. Pair them with their house-made dipping sauce, & you're in for a treat. Overall, Qing Hua Dumpling delivers on quality & freshness, but some dishes shine brighter than others. Highlight: Shrimp, Pork, & Chive Dumplings Would I come back? For those shrimp dumplings? 100% yes!

I love dumplings so much I had to check this place out. I just got what the server recommended & stated was their most popular dumplings - the pork & cabbage. They were so good, so juicy & packed with flavour. The only thing I would suggest to the restaurant is to create a better tasting or unique chilli oil which could really elevate the dumplings even further. You have to check this out if you're in Chinatown in MTL & love dumplings. The prices are also so reasonable & so far from breaking the bank!

We absolutely love this soup dumpling spot in Chinatown! The restaurant is a biiiit tight (it's a popular place), but the service is pretty quick. Our recurring absolute favourites & the beef curry & lamb coriander steamed dumplings, which are simply exquisite.

Best restaurant in Chinatown. Incredibly savoury dumplings. & way less crowded than Sammi! If you like coriander, get the Pork & Coriander. The Curry Beef is also super tasty. & be sure to get it steamed! The soup stays in the dumpling that way.

Incredibly authentic Chinese restaurant in the middle of the organic Chinatown in Montréal. We were told to try the cucumber salad, which was light & refreshing. Next we got a platter of mixed soup dumplings that came with instructions on how to eat them, we had chicken, lamb, & beef dumplings & they were all delectable. They were better soup dumplings than I've had anywhere in Toronto.

This is the best dumpling restaurants in Chinatown after I tried several other places nearby. The line up was so long & couldn't get inside as it was too crowded inside. So I phone them from outside of the restaurant to place an order for pick up which was the best idea ever. It only took 15 mins for our food & pick up was super easy. We had both steamed & pan-fried, & both of them are the same price & amazing quality. So juicy, flavorful & generous amount of stuff inside the dumplings. Although other places may be better rated, this is my top recommendation if you are looking for a dumpling place in Chinatown for sure!

This place has never let us down. It's hands down one of the best dumpling spots we've ever found, & we keep coming back for more. Even during peak hours, when there's often a wait, the staff is incredibly thoughtful. They make sure you're seated as quickly as possible based on the size of your group, though larger parties might need a bit more patience. We've tasted their shrimp soup & hot & sour soup, & both were delicious. They also serve some truly authentic spring rolls. As for the dumplings, we've tried both steamed & pan-fried, but the steamed ones have won our hearts. Our all-time favorites are the chicken coriander & curry chicken dumplings. If you can't decide between steamed & fried, you can even get a half-&-half order for just 50 cents extra. If you find yourself downtown or near Chinatown, do yourself a favor & give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Service was attentive. Didn't look particularly touristy & was a bit off the Main Street. Which raised our hopes. For our taste, & I've been to many different Chinatowns around the world, it just didn't taste that good. Not terrible but lacked flavor. Our first order, arrived in five minutes so made me wonder a bit. To each their own. I certainly don't want to dismiss anybody's taste but also noticed there weren't any Asians eating here either.

I've visited this amazing place several times, & it never disappoints. I can't resist sharing the joy with others; I've probably brought over 20 different friends already, & each time has been fantastic. It's easily the best restaurant I've tried in Chinatown, & I'm particularly enamored with their pork & shrimp dishes. The flavors are simply irresistible - a true culinary delight.

Tasty dumplings in a comfy environment -- I can't wait to return. I dined in late on a Monday night, & I loved stepping into a bustling resto after walking through le Quartier Chinois' neon-lit, energetic streets. It was only a 10-minute wait to be seated, & then I was digging the youthful vibes around me: a combination of twentysomething & thirtysomething hipsters; young, middle-aged & senior couples & solo diners like myself. All of us hungry! What I didn't like was watching servers skip me to take orders from a few groups of three diners -- that caused me to have to wait a half-hour for a server to take my order. Not good. & all I had during the waiting period was a pitcher of water with lemon wedges. Then, once my order -- pan-fried pork & chive dumplings (I didn't mind the $1.50CAD extra for pan-searing) -- was taken, it took more than a half-hour more for my meal & a can of Coke to arrive. Was my plate of pan-fried dumplings worth the excruciating wait? Yes, oui & si! I was so hungry that I used only soy sauce, but I ate a few of the porkilicious morsels naked, & they were divine! Next time I'll try some of the condiments that are provided at every table. But yah, I left satisfied both in belly & wallet. As a U.S. citizen using a credit card, I benefited from the exchange rate & zero international fee (merci, Capital One!), so I didn't even feel the tiny extra cost for selecting the pan-fried method over the (default) steamed method. I must mention that having the choice of using a major credit card or some of my CAD cash was a really nice surprise, as I'd "misremembered" that Qing Hua Dumpling House didn't accept credit cards. The restaurant does accept credit cards. As this was my first night out of seven on my Québec province vacation trip, I decided I'd better hold onto my Canadian cash a bit longer. & I was smart, because some eateries in Montreal -- from Chinatown to La Petite-Italie -- don't accept credit cards. In fact, midway through my vacation, I needed to visit a currency exchange office (in Québec City) because I wanted to make sure I had enough CAD cash (including those helpful loonies & twoonies) to leave tips: for housekeeping in the hotel rooms, for doormen & concierge at hotels, for tour guides *&* the drivers of those tour buses, for donations at houses of worship (although I hadn't planned to visit any, I went to three, including St. Joseph's Oratory in MTL), & for food from food trucks & carts at the Just for Laughs Festival in MTL. So, with major credit cards & CAD cash on my person next time I'm in Canada, I'll be stopping by Qing Hua Dumpling House when I reach Montréal. Not only do I love its cuisine & its operating hours, but I also adore its overall vibe. The front-of-the-house employee (not sure if he's the manager) was so welcoming & kind, just one of the coolest businesspeople I encountered on this trip, that I'd return to Qing Hua Dumpling House to experience his sophisticated & charming blend of hospitality ... even after a 13-hour rail trip to MTL from NYC. S'il vous plait, incloyez la Maison Qing Hua dans votre prochain visite au Montréal. Merci.
