Review Summary

QDC Burger is widely celebrated as a premier destination for high-quality, steakhouse-style burgers in Montreal, with many patrons praising the use of premium ingredients like USDA Prime beef, Wagyu, and fresh toppings that elevate the meal beyond a typical fast-food experience. Guests frequently highlight the exceptional, personalized service provided by the staff and the owner, noting the warm and welcoming atmosphere that often makes them feel right at home. The menu, which includes standout items like the short rib poutine, truffle fries with homemade aioli, and the unique Rico Opera burger, consistently earns top marks for flavor and portion size. While some diners mention the price point is reflective of the tourist-heavy location and high-quality ingredients, most agree that the exceptional culinary craftsmanship and memorable dining experience make a visit to QDC Burger highly worthwhile.

Food is good.
Owner has different personalities. But it depends on who he's talking to. You see customers wearing suits looking rich, he talks with finesse & very accommodating. You see casual looking clients, he's rude.

Atmosphere is depressing, it's hard to eat food when you see the staff being shouted at all the time.
I saw a person walk in who apparently ordered for pick up,
when the person came he said,'Hi!, I'm picking up an order for ****'.
The owner shouted,'what do you mean ****? I don't know any order for ****'
The person gave the name again.
The owner checked his computer & there it is. The order was real. So the owner shouted at his cook to make the order fast. Take note, not just shouting, shouting with offensive curses.

Then the owner came outside to serve us. He was very nice to us with all his flowery words. I was wearing a suit. So.

I pity the cook. She looks tired & hurt. Can't hurt to have a little kindess to everybody.

If you're reading the mixed reviews & hesitating - let me settle it for you.

People complain about the price. $28 for a burger, fries, & a drink. Here's what they're missing: Peter is using USDA Prime & Canadian AAA beef, dry-aged richness, jumbo Cajun shrimp on the Surf & Turf, real Wagyu on the Wagyu burger, foie gras, black truffle, lobster - these are steakhouse-grade ingredients on a brioche bun. Go price out a steak dinner with these same ingredients anywhere in Old Montreal & come back to me about value. The Rico Opera alone eats like a fine dining experience compressed into a burger.

The fries are not an afterthought - they're some of the best in the city, served with a house garlic aioli you'll want to take home in a jar. The short rib poutine is decadent in the way poutine is supposed to be but almost never is. The French Dip might be the sleeper hit of the menu.

& then there's Peter. Some reviews call him intense. He is. He's a chef who cares deeply about how his food is meant to be eaten & isn't going to pretend otherwise to get a tip. If you walk in expecting a fast-food transaction, you'll be confused. If you walk in curious, ask him what to order, trust the recommendation, & pay attention to the plate in front of you - you'll get one of the best meals in Montreal & a real conversation with the guy who made it. That's not a flaw. That's the entire point.

This place was born out of Queue de Cheval, an institution of Montreal. The DNA is still there. You're not paying burger prices because it isn't a burger joint - it's a steakhouse that happens to put it between two buns.

Stop reading reviews. Just Go.
