I visited this restaurant last Friday, July 17th, with my family, & the overall experience was deeply disappointing. We ordered several popular items expecting a good meal, but almost every dish fell short on quality, taste, & freshness.
Lassi: This was essentially just flavored ice water. It was extremely watery, lacked any real yogurt consistency or richness, & was completely tasteless.
Pani Puri (Golgappa): Unfit to eat. It tasted stale, appeared dirty & unhygienic, & felt completely unsafe for health. It was so bad that we had to return it immediately after taking just a single bite.
Honey Potato Wedges: Disappointing quality. Instead of being crisp & fresh, they tasted old, stale, & lacked flavor.
Dahi Bhalla (Dahi Bada): Another major letdown. The bhallas were stale, bland, & lacked any fresh taste or proper balance of spices & yogurt.
Veg Fried Noodles: The noodles appeared to be merely steamed rather than properly wok-fried, leaving them undercooked, soft, & completely tasteless.
Washroom Hygiene: The soap dispenser in the washroom was completely empty, which is very concerning for basic hygiene standards.
While the server was polite enough to accept the returned pani puri without an issue, the poor food quality across the board made this meal a complete waste of money.
Strongly caution other prospective customers to think twice before dining here.
We had superb time with punjab canteen so we ordered cheese chilii , butter chicken with naan , it was so flavourful & fresh . Great hospitality by kamal !!! Highly recommended.
Had an amazing experience shooting an event at this beautiful Indian restaurant! The atmosphere was vibrant, the staff was incredibly welcoming, & every detail of the event was perfectly organized.
& the food - absolutely delicious! From the rich flavors to the fresh ingredients, every dish I tried was full of authentic taste & beautifully presented. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable while capturing the special moments of the event.
Highly recommend this place for both events & incredible Indian cuisine. Definitely looking forward to coming back again!
'I ordered butter naan for takeout, but when I opened it at home, it was very hard & dry. It didn't look or taste like proper butter naan at all. I was disappointed with the quality, especially since fresh butter naan should be soft & buttery. Hope the restaurant improves consistency & checks orders before packing.'
First time in my life I try this kind of food, omg so yummy the people are so nice the place is clean all fresh & the proof is you wait a bit of time tell your order is ready & not like some places one minutes & your food is ready, like that place will repeat.
Place is very busy best to order before .
BTW they have many kind of sweets & drinks options
Very clean restaurant, great service, delicious food with plenty of veg options. Everything was fresh & very flavourful, reasonably priced. A must in the neighbourhood. A girl name kamal Was so sweet!
Honestly, Punjab Canteen hit the spot. The food was fire, super fresh, & tasted like real home?style comfort food. The vibe inside was relaxed & everyone was super friendly.
Big shoutout to the team , they really made the experience. Super chill, super helpful, & just good energy overall. You can tell they actually care about the customers.
I had mentioned 2 orders - one Amritsari kulcha with gobi & one with aloo - but they packed both as aloo. I've attached pictures below. On top of that, it was extremely bland & overcooked. The chicken was even worse - very poor packaging, & first of all, it was not even fresh. It didn't seem fresh for at least 2-3 days, it even smelled bad.
What is a customer supposed to do in this situation? I ordered through Uber, at least there should be some basic sense of responsibility. The owner & the cook should have some shame. If you're taking orders, the owner should pay attention to takeout quality, & the chef should actually do their job properly. It's disappointing to see our own desi Punjabi people becoming so careless & unprofessional..bai j nahi kam hunda apda ghare baith jo ya kite warehouse shifta lalo koi order karda khan nu take out bdia bna kya kro jma malang te vehlad ban rhe ne..uni hi priority rakho jini dining di a food di take out v paise de k krvayi da na ki free ch..
We had such a wonderful dining experience at punjab canteen Montreal. This restaurant perfectly combines authentic Indian flavors with a modern, stylish atmosphere, making it one of the best places for Indian vegetarian food in Montreal.
The ambiance was warm, trendy, & inviting - great for a date night, family dinner, or group outing. The staff was attentive & knowledgeable, helping us choose the best vegetarian options from the menu.
We tried a selection of vegetarian appetizers, main dishes, refreshing drinks, & desserts. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, & well-balanced in spices. The curries were rich & aromatic, the naan was fresh & soft, & the drinks complemented the meal perfectly. The desserts were an excellent way to end the evening, with authentic Indian flavors presented in a modern style.
