Located in Old Montreal since 2005, Porto Mar is the ideal spot for romantic dinners, business meetings, casual encounters, birthdays and other special events. Our restaurant is located in a beautiful historic building with a unique old world charm.
Our menu offers a variety of traditional Portuguese dishes as well as fresh fish, seafood, steak and a choice of grilled specialties. We also have many gluten free options. Very old school restaurant with an uninspired menu & relatively small portion. This is sort of a local tourist trap, you can literally go one street up & try 20 much better restaurants at a similar price point. Why my client wanted to go there I have no idea but it was a very disappointing & underwhelming experience. Like eating cafeteria food, served in cafeteria dishes & a crumbling setting that hasn't been renovated in like 40 plus years. Do yourself a favor & just cross the street & go to Gibby's you will thank me for it.View more

Even being a sea food restaurant the steak that i order here is easy one on my top 5 in the world, & I have order steaks all over America including Argentina & Chile which are countries specialized in steaks, all sea food also is a 10 of 10, very recommended place to visit if you are in the Montreal area, the desserts OMG!!!View more

I give it 3 stars because the classic Portuguese dish was not tasty. Namely rice with seafood. They first brought this dish to me spicy (it's not a spicy dish), then they remade it, but it still wasn't good. I thought the problem was the rice & the sauce. Nevertheless, the homemade sausages were delicious. The cocktails were good, too. The service was excellent.View more
