Review Summary

Overall, reviews of Pizzeria Sofia highlight delicious Italian fare with standout pizzas, pastas, and even gluten free options, and a warm, lively atmosphere that many find welcoming. The wood fired pizzas and plates like arancini, burrata pizza and gnocchi are repeatedly praised, and service is described as attentive and friendly in many cases, with some guests experiencing flawless or fast service. However, a number of readers note that prices can be high and drinks or water may incur extra charges, and a few visits report slow or inconsistent service, long waits, or a noisy room when crowded. Parking is convenient with easy underground options, and families or groups often enjoy a bustling, festive vibe that makes Pizzeria Sofia a reliable choice for a memorable meal.

A great meal… with a side of decibels

We've visited this location a few times before, as well as their Rosemère location, & the restaurant always impresses with its beautiful, modern decor.

We were seated in a central booth in a relatively calm dining room. As the evening progressed, the atmosphere became much more energetic.

To her credit, our waitress, Emanuelle, stepped in & brought the noise level back down to something manageable. Her professionalism made a real difference.

Now, the food-this is where Sofia truly shines.

With no gluten-free pizza dough available that evening, I opted for the rigatoni cacio e pepe, topped with black truffle paste (normally served with gnocchi). The gluten-free pasta held up beautifully, & the dish was rich, creamy, & deeply flavorful, with that earthy truffle note adding a refined touch.

My wife ordered the cavatelli with San Marzano tomato sauce & basil-simple, classic, & very well executed. Portions across the board were generous.

To start, I had a Caesar salad (sans croûtons)-fresh, crisp, & again, very generous. My wife chose the fritto misto, a beautifully presented plate of fried calamari & shrimp served with a spicy mayonnaise.

Dessert was a standout: fondant al cioccolato, served with Nutella cream, caramelized pears, vanilla gelato, & a hazelnut-chocolate tuile. Decadent, well-balanced, & absolutely worth saving room for.

For wine, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc paired nicely on her side, while I went with a bold Chianti-both solid choices.

Final take: The kitchen delivers consistently excellent food with generous portions & thoughtful execution. Service, especially from Emanuelle, was attentive & solution-oriented. The only drawback was the noise level, which at times detracted from the overall experience.

Would we return? Yes-for the food & service. Hopefully next time, with a slightly quieter soundtrack.

If you read my other reviews , I never complain. I love food & I'm not picky. But this place … the food was overly salty. & we spoke up about it to the waitress which was wonderful by the way, & she told us we were the 4th table to have voiced that.

The manager came in hot , with an annoyed attitude , it was already 10pm when we received our food ….. (we had a reservation a 8pm, got seated at 8:22pm, & received our food at 10pm) he's like but why didn't you tell us that your food was salty. BRO I WAS STARVING & I genuinely thought it was like me being crazy or maybe the Parmegiano . I don't know . We didn't finish our plates, the pizza was barely touched. Even a waiter tried our food & said it was way too salty.

So the manger was like well tell me what do you want we can make it but it was already 10:10pm at the time.

So they deducted my pasta plate & the pizza. But it was just the arrogance of the manager. How come I had to argue with him that the food was disgusting. Like you literally have 4 other tables who also have complained .

The appetizers were fine but seriously what a mediocre even lower than average food.

Will never set foot again.

Very good pizza & pasta. Some things are quite expensive, especially some drinks so beware if your budget is tight.

Very noisy when full.

I am giving two stars only because of the service; the waiters were very kind. However, to be asked if you want water & then being charged 5.50$ is crazy & a little deceiving. The pasta was a bit cold & the portion was very small. The food itself is okay but my expectations were higher given it is a pretty pricey restaurent, overall kind of disappointing.

The pasta was absolutely delicious-fresh, flavorful, & perfectly cooked. However, the prices are way too high for what you get. On top of that, charging for water is just ridiculous. It's a basic expectation in a restaurant, not an extra luxury. The service was also a bit overwhelming-there were too many waiters constantly coming by, which felt more distracting than helpful. Overall, good food, but not worth the price.

We went on a Tuesday & the place was empty but the staff was nice & the food was good yet a bit pricey. My friends went on a Wednesday right after lunch time & the place was closed. They specialize in wood oven pizza & pasta. It's also a supper club type spot where some people go for drinks on weekends mostly.

Pizza & Pasta are amazing. However, the service was Awful!! With a reservation, we waited 15 minutes at the door to get seated. Don't forget to bring water bottles since they charge for water & don't serve tap water!

Great pizza, good pasta. I love the space around the bar. Luminous & airy but maybe a little noisy for a quiet night out with your loved one.

I admit I get annoyed at location that don't offer free tap water. The calamari & shrimp came w 2 shrimp. At that pt, why bother? The bureaus salad was good. The pizzas were enormous with a crisp crust. 2 of us got pizzas & the other had pasta. I think it was a bit expensive for what it was. Very nice decor & good service.

The service was awfull!!! The place is so nice my friend & I thought it was going to be the perfect place to go on the terrasse, first of all since we walked in there they didnt even say hi to us, after that we had the worst waiter ever! The restaurant was super empty & is the Euro2016 sesson this guy was so busy watching his game he totally forgot about us, he just came to ask what we were going to eat, the food was desgusting, it was even cold already, I feel like the pasta wasnt even well coocked! Desgusting! After we received our food our waiter completly dessapear! He NEVER came back to us ! Not even with the bill , my friend & I where super pissed because never in our life have seen this awfull service. After there was 2 girls starting their shifft none of them came to say anything to us, so we wanted to pay we went inside they gave us all this shitty excuse but well, once we got downsstairs we saw our waiter sitting in the crowd watching the game!!!!!! He didnt even nother say a word he even tried to hide from us like what kind of service does this restaurant offert! It is just so desgusting! I've never seen this in my entire life! I was so glad to hear that a pizza joint finally opened in the Quartier Dix30 Square, it was the only thing missing really. The restaurant has a very homey, rustic feel to it making it great for family dinners, or a casual date night. There were large round tables which would be perfect for groups or families. The booth was extremely comfortable & tables were nicely spread apart. I enjoyed being able to see the chefs make the pizza & use the big stone ovens. My boyfriend & I started off with the fried calamari (11$), it was nice & tender although could have been a bit crispier. It was served with a tasty spicy mayo & garnished with pickles. My boyfriend had the Americana Pizza (15$) & he really enjoyed it. The portion size was large, so we brought the left overs home. I ordered the seafood linguini (16$). The pasta was fresh & i enjoyed the wine sauce. There was a decent amount of seafood including mussels, clams & calamari. I would have liked more tomatoes though. I cannot comment on the wine because the restaurant does not yet have a liquor license. Service was excellent, constantly refilling our water as soon as the glass was empty. The menu was smaller then I expected, but the quality of food is good. There is also a kid friendly menu. This is a great place to stop for a quick bite between extensive shopping, or simply to have a relaxing meal. I will go back again.
