Pizzeria Moretti is widely regarded as a vibrant destination known for its delicious pizzas, fresh salmon tartare, and high quality burrata, creating a welcoming and modern atmosphere that many guests find perfect for special occasions. While the interior design and outdoor terrace are frequently highlighted as major assets, opinions on the overall experience are varied. Many diners praise the attentive and professional service provided by the staff, often describing the environment as energetic and fun, while others express concerns regarding inconsistent service standards, occasional noise levels from DJs, and a pricing structure that some feel does not always align with the value provided. Despite these mixed reports, the majority of visitors appreciate the lively vibes and tasty menu offerings, making it a popular choice for those seeking a stylish spot to enjoy a meal in the city.
The food & atmosphere were great as always but we were very turned off during our last visit by our server's behavior at checkout. My sister & I decided to split the bill 50/50 (group of 5) & I said to my sister that I would tip for the whole bill (the server didn't know this at this point) so when she saw my sister added $0 as the tip she explicitly demanded a minimum 15% tip 😬😬😬 AGAIN the server didn't know I would tip on the whole bill but it was extremely unprofessional of her to assume she wouldn't receive a tip - especially when we actually intended to leave (& actually tipped) +20%.
I shared this feedback with the manager & he apologized but also didn't seem to care so much.
It would be easy to be like'we'll never be back' but the food is really good & the location is super convenient (less than a block away from our place) so we will be back, I just hope they're less petty about the tip next time!
My friend came to town to visit last night (July 22), so we came into Moretti William for dinner & drinks. I had been to this location once before, & had a good experience. But last night? The restaurant was probably half full, but there were about 10-12 young men standing around the bar who had somehow got a hold of the music/entertainment system & they were BLASTING the music, so loud I had to move to the same side of the table as my friend just to hear her talk. I could see the other tables looking around, too, but no staff seemed to want to acknowledge it. The young men were loud, yelling, & switching songs spontaneously/before they were done, which was very distracting. Our server was a young blonde woman who was pleasant, but clearly not interested in personalizing our experience at all. Then, at one point, we looked around for her to ask for our bill, & saw she was taking shots at the bar with the young men. I have been in hospitality myself, working in restaurants for many years, so I know of course you become friends with regulars, but there is still a level of professionalism to uphold, & that was not done with the staff last night. If there was a manager on site, he/she wasn't doing their job - if there wasn't, this service staff took advantage of being left unsupervised. I really don't mind good music or fun servers with a little buzz, but it should NEVER be at the expense of the experience of your other guests. I won't be returning to this Moretti again, especially for any sort of special occassion. That being said, food was great, so kudos to the kitchen.
Rigatoni vodka was really delicious & a bit spicy. Chicken parmigiana was really tasty. Gnocchi served under it was delicious. Went on a Thursday night when Canada was in the World Cup ( & won the game!) so I wonder if it was quiet in the restaurant because of that.
Me & my friend had a reservation for her birthday, the service was fine & the food was ok but everything was incredibly overpriced (we got two lemon drop martinis, they came in shot glasses & we were charged 20$ for it). After the meal the manager came over & gave a whole speech on how tipping culture is important & told us that his restaurant was no place for children like us if we couldn't afford to tip big. Absolutely disgusting behaviour & incredible audacity.
Nos plats étaient excellents. Nous n'avions pas de réservation & ils ont réussi à nous trouver une place. Nous avons mangé dans la section extérieure, ce que nous avont fort apprécié. Merci pour la belle soirée!
