Pigeon Café & Bar is frequently praised for its beautiful, lush interior design and inviting atmosphere, making it a popular spot for brunch and casual gatherings. While many visitors highlight delicious menu items like the shakshuka, pancakes, and various sandwiches, experiences with food quality remain inconsistent, with some citing issues regarding freshness, seasoning, or portion sizes. Customer service is described as highly polarized; many patrons have enjoyed exceptional, friendly, and professional interactions with specific staff members, while others have reported instances of slow, inattentive, or even rude service. Additionally, some guests have expressed frustration over noise levels, specific policies like the weekend ban on laptops, and perceived lack of value regarding pricing and tipping structures.
It was a very beautiful day outdoors in Montreal, Canada, especially my little son sharing the place with me. The coffee was good & the breakfast was good. The shakshouka was not as we like it. The eggs were small with the amount of tomatoes served, but overall it was good.
beautiful spot for a nice brunch with family or friends. i mostly go for the lattes (they are impeccable, seriously) but their food is high quality, if a little pricey for a student budget, which i feel is relavent given the high student population. the ambience is really great & seating has never been a problem. their tomato soup is really great too fyi 👍👍
I went to Pigeon cafe & bar this past Thursday evening just looking for a latte & dessert, but ended up getting so much more. I was greeted & served warmly by the barista & invited to sit at the bar where I unexpectedly spent hours chatting away with the barista & bartender & vibing to the music provided by the DJ. My drinks were super well made, the dessert was fantastic, the atmosphere was a vibe & the company & service (i.e. the barista & bartender) was superb. I will definitely be back soon!
I've gone to Pigeon a few times (different friends invited me), & my experiences have varied. Sometimes, it's easy to find seating & the staff there is friendly, but others it's quite difficult to get a spot & the servers aren't always kind - really depends on the day!
The constants are:
- Drinks are good, but too expensive for what you're getting;
- There's a great variety of food options (also expensive), but I've never had anything truly amazing;
- Seats are very comfortable & overall ambience is good, although it can get loud depending on when you go.
There's a lot of space, so if you have a reservation (& are willing to spend $$), it's a good place to go to catch up with friends & family in the downtown area, but not my favourite.
We were seated & ordered within 5 minutes of being seated. After about 40 minutes (after ordering), we noticed a table near us complain that they've waited over 45 minutes & the food was still not ready. After speaking with the kitchen, their server came back to tell them something & they got up & left. About 10 minutes later, I spoke with a server & said it's been near an hour after ordering & the server went to check in the kitchen. The server came back & said it would be about 15-20 minutes more, & when I asked him if any part of the order has started to be cooked, he said no. We got up & left. Mind you, I've eaten here before & the food was fine.
We were excited to try this restaurant, but our experience had some noticeable issues. It took quite a long time for the host to acknowledge us at the entrance & seat us, which was a bit frustrating. Once seated, it took a while for glasses to be brought to the table, & we had to ask for water rather than it being offered promptly.
When our food arrived, it came out in separate waves with about five minutes between dishes, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal together. Unfortunately, by the time everything was on the table, the hot food had cooled down, which was disappointing.
The atmosphere & staff were pleasant, but we hope these timing & service details can be improved. With some adjustments, this place could really shine.
The café is really aesthetic, with beautiful decor & a cozy vibe. However, the service could be improved: we were asked to pay before we had even finished our drinks, & we felt a bit stared at, almost as if we didn't belong there. A shame, because the place itself is definitely worth a visit.
