About

Otto Yakitori Izakaya specializes in the traditional Japanese art of charcoal-grilled skewers prepared over authentic binchotan coals. Each skewer highlights high-quality proteins and seasonal vegetables seasoned simply with tare sauce or sea salt to emphasize natural flavors. The menu showcases various parts of the chicken alongside classic Japanese small plates designed for sharing in a communal setting. A robust selection of sake and Japanese beer complements the smoky profile of the grilled offerings. The interior design prioritizes an energetic atmosphere characterized by open kitchen views and minimalist wood furnishings that facilitate rapid service. This establishment maintains a focus on technical precision and the integrity of ingredients common to the izakaya experience. Guests encounter a straightforward approach to Japanese street-style food culture rooted in the mastery of flame and heat.

Literally a ritual for years. The food is incomparable, hands down the best yakitori in all Montreal. Small cozy place, always good vibes, & bonus points because they close late. The Midori is my favorite drink, pina colada vibes. But the Purple Rain is delicious too. My favorite skewers: Kamo (duck), Negima (chicken & green onion), HOTATE (best scallop ever) & the Karaage, the Otto Ramen & the Beef Taraki are a must as well. I've also never met staff more heartwarming than this, literally became family. I could not imagine my life without Otto in it🤍 Coco & Kina are the sweetest ever! In other words: DO NOT HESITATE TO GO!!!

Me & my girl went for a late night snack I had very high hopes since the place had amazing reviews, but I ended up highly disappointed the food was terrible, the skewers came out overly salty, chicken skin burnt & overly greasy, the kaarage seemd like the rolled a chicken thigh & breaded it threw it in the fryer & served it to you, & the ramen don't get me started... egg had a bitter after taste, WHO PUTS CHICKEN ON RAMEN? the only okay thing was the noodles & the broth somewhat okay. Yakitori Yokabai has way better food & I would have spent the same 100$ there & walked out happier & ate much more. 3 dishes & two beers for 100$ is insanity, specially for such tasteless soulless food. I'm sorry but that is no real Izakaya experience.

Honestly been coming to Otto since forever, but lately the service has really been the worst. I came about a week ago & both waitresses were so drunk they couldn't even walk or talk properly. Decided to give them one last chance because i love the food there. Tonight, the service was horrible, the staff were talking to their friends the whole night with no service. Waited over 30minutes to order while watching them take shots after shots. They couldn't even get our order right! We wanted to order more but decided to leave, this shouldn't be acceptable. Will not be returning.

We came in an hour before they closed, didn't really get greeted, the whole place was already set up & ready to close, no water, waited 30 minutes before we even got acknowledged by staff. I ordered a double vodka cranberry. They surprisingly did not have cranberry. I then ordered a double vodka orange juice, because they surely must have orange juice right? It was 30$ for a double vodka orange juice. Not grey goose, not belvedere, rail vodka. 30$! That's simply outrageous. Overpriced & subpar service. Perhaps their food makes up for it but unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try.
