Lanzhou Lamian, also known as Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles, is a type of Chinese noodle dish that originated in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu province in China. It is a popular street food in China and can be found in many Chinese restaurants around the world.
The process of making Lanzhou Lamian is an art form in itself. The dough is made from wheat flour, water, and sometimes eggs. The dough is then hand-pulled, stretched, and folded in a specific way to create the thin, chewy noodles. The noodles are then boiled and served in a clear soup broth, which is made from beef bones, spices, and herbs. Thinly sliced beef, green onions, and cilantro are often added as toppings.
Nouilles KungFu earns praise for fresh, handmade noodles made on site, flavorful broths, and generous portions at reasonable prices. The open kitchen and the option to customize noodles by thickness, along with fast, attentive service in a cozy, small setting, contribute to an authentic and welcoming dining experience. Noodles are repeatedly described as chewy and well prepared, with many noting that the broth remains rich without becoming greasy as it cools. Beef and Lanzhou style soups are standout favorites, and many reviewers say they would definitely return, even as a few mention occasional longer waits, a busy atmosphere, or rooms that can get quite hot. Overall the reviews converge on high quality, consistent flavors, and strong value, making Nouilles KungFu a go-to spot for hand pulled noodles on the south shore.
Food is good but we always pay for extra noodles & large size & usually its enough but the past 3 times we came, the portions of noodles in the bowl & the number of slices of beef have decreased. Wait time used to be 5-10 mins but lately it has become 30 to 45 minutes for your soup noodles to arrive, it has become pretty ridiculous :(
I took food to go & it was delicious. The lady in the front was super sweet & gave me broth when I thought I ordered a soup instead I ordered the special beef (which was delicious). I wouldn't just go there for the food but the lovely workers too
All hail the mighty gluten! Great little noodle joint. The noodles are made fresh & offer 7 types of thickness & cuts.
The fresh braids of wheat flour offer chewy noodles & the kitchen generously fill your bowl with carby delight & flavourful broths (a regular size is usually enough although a large is not impossible to finish). We love the triangle & thick noodles. The cooking of the thick noodles is not always consistent (sometimes overcooked) but they have the triangle noodle cooking down pack. Personally, the triangle ones offer the greatest slurpping experience as they gently glide into your mouth with maximum surface to soup/flavour ratio without splashing as much as the other noodles. Call it efficient SLURPaerodynamic. Extra points for the great lip & mouth feel because of the extra ridges in the triangle cut.
I suspect there is a good amount of MSG because I am quite thirsty after eating there but it does not stop me from going back.
The meat to noodle ratio is not the greatest for the traditional bowl (beef slices) but it is acceptable for the braise pork or the chicken coconut broth ones.
The eggs are very forgettable & we only take them for extra protein.
Side dishes:
spicy cucumber one is not that spicy at all & the cucumber is crunchy & gives a refreshing experience.
The edamame is great too & fun to eat. Good depth with the preserved greens in it.
The potatoe sliver salad is our favorite though. Not bad balance of soft & crunchy but could be crunchier. Good taste.
Seaweed: beware. It is very potent & a bit hard to eat (loooog strands). So it you do not like sea tasting stuff or hard to pick stuff, stay away.
The mini lamb skewers are great. Too many times, I find other restaurants overdo it with the cummin not here. It is very good. 1 basket is usually not enough (although they are decently generous). Could be a bit less overcooked but not dry in any sense of it. Really like it!
Prices are right, portions are very decent, parking is easy. If it open until late, it would be a great late night fix & would consider going even more often.
The perfect remedy on a cold day! Always have a great experience at this restaurant - my family & I will drive all the way to Brossard to eat there because their hand pulled noodles are that good! I recommend the homemade braised beef noodles. You can customize your noodles & also the ingredients in your bowl.
I've been to KungFu Noodle before a few times & knew that on a cold day like today this would hit the spot! The place is located in a small neighborhood mall & has really easy parking access. It's clean, the tables are a tad on the small side but otherwise comfortable.
The star here is the hand-pulled noodles. You can choose from a variety of noodle dishes & select your preferred thickness, with a handy reference on one of the walls.
We were three & each ordered some braised beef soups. The broth is satisfying, flavourful. The beef is very tender & the noodles were just the right amount of tender but chewy.
Never got totally comfortable grabbing them with chopsticks but the effort is worth it. Part of the experience is the view of the person making the noodles fresh to order & the sound of the twist & snap can at times make you jump when you aren't expecting it but it's fun to watch. A lunch spot that never disappoints!

Best noodles I've had in years! The braised beef was sooooo delicious. Service was also impeccable! Very friendly! Will most definitely be coming back very soon!! 10/10!
The food was so good! We took the mini lamb skewers & the braised beef soup. The lamb was really well seasoned & well cooked. The soup was amazing, the beef was melting in my mouth & they were really generous with the amount of noodles in it. I took the wide noodles & they were well cooked & very good. There is chili oil in the soup even though it's not written in the menu. We went at 6:30pm on a Saturday & had no wait time for a table & were out of the restaurant within 1h, the service is quick! I'm happy I found this place & will definitely go back
I ordered the beef noodle soup. The noodles (handmade) & broth are very good but not served hot enough. I also found the dish had little to no meat or vegetables. Too expensive for what was given.

Wonderful fresh handmade noodles on the South Shore ! Went on a cool day, & the hot soup was greatly appreciated. We had the braised beef soup, & it came with a choice of noodles, ranging from thin to belt-width ! We had the wide & extr-la/wide noodles, & both were tender with a wonderful bouncy texture. Though small, it is definitely worth the visit
Hands down one of the best pulled noodle spots in Montreal. I had the braised beef, extra spicy, & wide noodles & left nothing in the bowl. I even thought about going back for dinner the same day! The broth, noodles & chilli oil are the best. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
These noodles are amazing! Freshly made & you can choose the sizes of how thick or thin you'd like your noodles to be. We had the dry special beef noodles (spicy) & lanzhou shoup noodles with beef. Both with chive leaf style of noodles & both are excellent! The spiciness is on point, not too much not too little. The Lanzhou noodles soup was also flavored & impressive!

I was there last week & ordered its Special Beef Noodle Soup. The waiter was super polite & helpful, & the handmade noodles that were made at the site had a great texture; the soup tasted ok. BUT, WHERE IS THE BEEF? Nothing likes the picture on the menu
Great noodle place. The noodles were silky, & firm. There are different sizes/styles of noodles available. I recommend the beef special noodle. We were three & we all loved it. The other noodles (boeuf braisé) have a broth that numbs you just the right way. The waiters were very attentive to our needs.
April 10, 2024 @ 17:19hrs Bonjour folks, Good fresh hand made noodles for all to see. You will hear a bang often - that's the guy in the kitchen making the hand pulled noodles. No wait time. Quick in & out. Make sure you try their burgers. They never mix pork & beef so those who cannot have pork (like us 🙂) - it's totally cool. Enjoy & don't forget to try the burger. P.S. the joint is family run.
