When we walked in & saw the size of the menu, we all had the same thought:

'There's no way all of this can be good.'

We were wrong.

As newcomers to Quebec, this was one of those unexpected finds. The kids ordered whatever they wanted, & every dish that came out was surprisingly good.

But the real highlight was angelic server, Danielle. Her warmth, knowledge of the menu, & genuine hospitality turned a good meal into a memorable experience.

J'ai commandé un repas chinois & une frite que j'ai bien demandé doré,mais c'était pas mangeable, très déçu,je sais pas s'ils ont changé le cuisinier mais ce n'est plus comme autrefois 😠

J'ai commandé, & c'était du réchauffé, le poulet était noyé dans la sauce rouge extrêmement déçu, j'aurais dû commander à la place habituelle

Service merdique, on nous a fait poireauter pendant 20 minutes alors qu'il y avait 2 personnes âgées avec des problèmes de genoux. Pendant ce temps des gens arrivés après nous & se faisaient avant nous. À plusieurs reprises on leur a demandé s'il y avait un problème & on nous faisait sentir que nous étions dérangeants. Lorsque le patron est venu nous voir il nous a bien fait comprendre que nous étions le problème. Très déçu de mon expérience & je ne reviendrai jamais. Je vous le déconseille fortement. Il y a trop de restaurants à Verdun pour tolérer un tel traitement.

We were there last week & ordered pizza & subs. The subs were good but the pizza was a big disappointment. The cheese, the sauce, the pepperoni , the dough … everything was off. It's such a beautiful & cozy restaurant & we love going there. Please make your pizza great again 🙂.

Verdun resident for 25+ years. There are 3 foundational diners in this town. & they're all good. New Verdun is my favourite. I order pizza or lasagna.

Nouveau Verdun transcends Fusion. It incorporates classic Montreal casse-croûte cuisine, Italian, Greek, & Canadian-Chinese cuisines. The food we tried was overall solid, nothing mind-blowing, but taste alone isn't the whole story.

When Montrealers ponder what food best represents the cuisine of our dear City, poutine, bagels, & smoked meat sandwiches usually come to mind. I would like to add Greek & Canadian-Chinese to that list.

Make no mistake: this isn't authentic Chinese cuisine, despite what some reviews suggest. However, dishes like chop suey & Chinese macaroni have their own charm, & actually originated from immigrants as a way to make'Chinese-ish' food accessible to Western palates.

These dishes have an amazing history & reflect the real story of how modern Montreal came to be : diverse, multicultural, shaped by the perseverance, grit, sacrifice & entrepreneurialism of immigrants. You won't find authentic Greek, Italian, or Chinese here, but if you're looking for something authentically Montreal, Nouveau Verdun is worth visiting.
