Cool New Orleans vibes, excellent service from our waitress, fun drinks.
All the food was pretty good, got the gumbo, the fried shrimp, the beignets, & the sandwich.
We had a wonderful experience at Moqueur. We loved the cozy atmosphere, delicious drinks, & food. The staff was lovely.
The only point is that most items on the menu seem to be fried. We would have loved to see different cooking methods.
We were lucky to be seating in the lovely terrance at the back in a perfect summer night. The service was friendly & efficient. We had a couple of drinks that were interesting & flavourful. The variety & taste of various southern US food was a great surprise. The fried mushrooms, the jambalaya, the corn ribs & the corn bread were definitely highlights.
I recently visited this bar & had a mixed experience. The service was fantastic, & the ambiance, especially on the patio, was really good. However, the food left much to be desired. The fries were extremely soggy, & the fried chicken, while decent, wasn't anything special. The jambalaya was disappointingly flavorless & dry. The corn ribs were the only impressive item on the menu. As for the drinks, I wasn't a big fan of the Black Duck, but the daiquiri was good. Overall, it's a great spot for drinks & atmosphere, but the food could use some improvement.
What a fun place! & with a nice cocktail selection & good food to boot! Split onto two levels (plus an outdoor terrace at the back in the summer time), Moqueur (meaning something along the lines of Mocker or Jeerer) has a New Orleans vibe with jade colored metal railings, & metal mesh covered stairwell that give off a warm & welcoming ambiance. The menu is not extensive but is still enough to satisfy, especially if you are with a group willing to share dishes. For our meal we enjoyed the Old Square Salad (very tasty, light & enjoyable...a good way to start before getting into the heavier foods), Clams Po-Boy (very good, tasty bread & nice fried clam flavoring0), & "Crispy Fried Chicken bites (also very good with a nice Creole sauce). For dessert we sampled the Nola Donuts (nice but heavy fried dough morsels) & the Red Fruit Puree (more like a chocolate cake but also very good). They also have a large selection of cocktails to imbibe yourself. Definitely a place to go with friends after work or for a night on the town. You'll have a blast. Enjoy!
The food, service & environment were all so uplifting & satisfying. I ordered the fried oyster mushrooms that come with a truffle mayo & I’m so happy with my decision. Its the best snack & place to relax if you’re on the move. It’s sad that agrikol is gone, because they made such good food too! Wish they could both exist & collab somehow.
