About

Montreal Poutine delivers an authentic interpretation of Quebec culinary traditions through a focused menu centered on fresh ingredients. Hand-cut potatoes undergo precise frying to achieve an ideal golden texture, providing a structural base for thick, savory gravy. The inclusion of squeaky, high-quality cheese curds ensures the essential pull and richness expected by local enthusiasts. Smoked meat offerings feature slow-cured beef brisket sliced thin to preserve tenderness and seasoning intensity. This establishment prioritizes the classic composition of these staple dishes, emphasizing proper ratios of potato to sauce and cheese. Patrons encounter a straightforward environment where the engineering of the poutine remains the primary technical objective. Every preparation adheres to established regional standards, prioritizing ingredient integrity over unnecessary culinary embellishment or complex plating techniques throughout the diverse selection of menu variants.

Review Summary

Montreal Poutine offers a memorable dining experience in a historic setting, featuring generous portions of poutine that many visitors consider among the best they have tasted in the city. The restaurant boasts a cozy, atmospheric interior and a charming terrace that enhances the overall vibe for those exploring Old Montreal. While many guests praise the friendly and accommodating staff, particularly when dealing with large groups, others have noted inconsistent service speeds and a policy requiring the purchase of bottled water instead of offering tap water. Although opinions on price and specific dish quality vary, the restaurant remains a popular destination for those seeking a quintessential, comfort-focused Montreal food experience in a unique, centuries-old building.

My family & I had very uncomfortable expirence when we visited this resturant. The customer service that we received was unprofessional & racist. The moment we stepped inside the store crew is already telling us about the tip (which is fine to mention btw but the crew's tone made it sound like we're not gonna pay). Also, they were telling us to close the door already but all of us didnt even step inside yet. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Excellent poutine, highly recommend ordering one. It's a bit on the expensive side compared to others, but the generous portion makes it worthwhile. My only comment is that this is the ONLY restaurant I went to in Quebec that does not give you free water (tap water) they only have water bottles, which I did not like.

This was our first experience with poutine & it did not disappoint! Everything was so delicious & we had plenty to share. Our server was friendly & gave us some great recommendations (the poutine with fried chicken was so good)! Highly recommend, will definitely come back on our next trip to Montreal!

Montreal's best poutine in my opinion! The vibe of this spot in Old Montreal is so cute, the chips are fresh & crispy, with the most flavourful gravy & LOADS of cheese curds! The location is surrounded by cute streets to walk off your food coma. Highly recommend this as your poutine spot when you visit Montreal.

The smoked meat poutine was great! Recommended to us by the server as their best one, & I would agree! Almost too much though, I do wish there were smaller sizes, only because we both felt a little blah the evening of because it was too much at once. Would not reheat well, so we did not take leftovers home with us & felt really bad wasting any, so really would benefit from a smaller size option. Would recommend & definitely would like to come back - wait to go until you are family hungry & don't have a lot to do afterwards, of go with a group of 3 or more to share.
The patio was a nice vibe!
