My husband & I placed an order on the phone for pieces of fried chicken. We usually order from the one in Solar, but since it was closed today we had to order at this one. We usually get 12 pieces of thighs with the sauce on the side. The guy on the phone was confused when I said I wanted thighs in French (cuisse) at first & proceeded to tell me'on fait juste drumstick ou thighs'. The phone call was pretty weird & confusing he kept saying we can, we can't… I said that thighs was what I wanted & in the end he said okay we can do that. I just figured that he didn't know what thighs was in French. He said it would take 20 mins.
We got there 20 mins later & he told us it would take another 5 mins which I was fine with. Then it turned into 10 mins which was weird because there was only two tables with two people in the whole restaurant… regardless we just waited.
40 mins after we ordered so 20 mins after we got to the restaurant, they tell us our order is ready. My husband saw on the screen to pay that it was written wings. It was not the same guy who took our order so we decided to open to see what they put inside. Firstly the pieces were tiny not worth the price at all & not like Solar. There was a mix of drumstick & wings with maybe one thigh. I spot the guy who took our order (he told us it was him when we first stepped in) & tell him that's not what we ordered. He told me'oui j'ai dit ail au téléphone.' I answered that ail is garlic not wings. He said oups well in that case we can't do thighs. My husband said that it's not what we ordered on the phone & for the price we're not paying for those tiny pieces of chicken. He looked at us with no solution to offer & we left. Will never be going back to that location. I will stick to the solar one. Very disappointed in the service & the size of the food.
We came here for the second time after a year last night, the service & staff are so kind (asian lady with ponytail with an accent, & young asian man) attentive & helpful, as soon as we came in we were greeted & seated & could order right away.
Food came quickly, hot & fresh looking! I wasn't worried at all, everything looked good.
However… the next day our stomachs are really upset, i think my husband has food poisoning…, Raw meat is served to us to barbecue, which we cooked thoroughly, but because of our state today, it causes me concern about the food & meat safety/storage/handling over there, especially because I am pregnant.
& some advice taste-wise: do not order the spring rolls, they taste very off, like sink water.
& if you are doing all you can eat bbq, no need to order onions or garlic (unless you plan on eating them whole), because the meat is already seasoned well, we thought to use them to grill next to the meat for flavour, but it didn't do much & we had to eat them unless we wanted to pay extra for wasting (our fault) haha.
Overall it was great while we were there, not so much after. Don't know if we'll come back…
The fried chicken is amazing here. I personally recommand the Mala & garlic soy sauces. Never disappointed
This was probably the most authentic korean food i've had on the south shore, maybe even Montreal. We had the garlic & soy fried chicken wich was tender & flavorful. We also had the beef hot pot soup & the noodle were so good! everything came with a side of rice kimchi, wakame & some sort of marinated radish i think? & the kimchi was better than any store bought. we also had some rice cake, wich was good, not too spicy. Everything was given in big portion & for all we had, it really wasn't so expensive.
