Review Summary

Ming Tao Xuan is described as having a good selection of authentic Chinese tea and a store with nice decor and artworks. Porcelain tea sets are praised for their beauty, but there is advice to clarify origins since Japanese and Chinese pieces are mixed. Tea is not served on site, there is no seating, and staff may seem unsure how to assist non Chinese customers, leaving some visitors feeling unwelcome. Overall, the staff are friendly and provide good recommendations and the place is considered worth visiting again to purchase, though the experience can vary.

Good selection of authentic Chinese tea. The porcelain tea set you have to be specific on what they are from, they mix Japanese & Chinese tea sets. Even so, great customer service. Worth visiting again to purchase.

Amazing tea selection, just sad they aren't offering tea service since covid. Call beforehand, as we were sad to see the store closed for the day (december 21) although it was marked as opened on Google. The service is impeccable with very knowledgeable staff. Best selection of oolong & pu-her in Montreal.

Visiting Ming Tao Xuan for the first time was a delightful experience that left me feeling both relaxed & inspired. Nestled in the heart of Old Port Montréal, this charming tea house offers a serene escape from the bustling streets outside. The ambiance was warm & inviting, with an interior that exudes traditional Chinese elegance. Shelves lined with clay pots & jars of loose-leaf tea added an authentic touch, while the soft lighting & gentle background music created a tranquil atmosphere perfect for savoring tea. The service was impeccable. The staff greeted me warmly & patiently guided me through their extensive tea collection, answering my questions with expertise & enthusiasm. Their genuine passion for tea was evident, & they took the time to explain the origins & nuances of different varieties, making the experience educational as well as enjoyable. I decided to purchase 100g of Jasmine Yin Zhen, a premium white tea infused with the delicate aroma of jasmine flowers. The tea's subtle fragrance & smooth flavor were captivating, & I was impressed by the quality. The staff even offered tips on how to brew it properly to bring out its best characteristics. Overall, my visit to Ming Tao Xuan was a sensory delight, combining a relaxing ambiance, exceptional service, & a remarkable selection of fine teas. I can't wait to return to explore more of their offerings & perhaps expand my tea collection with one of their exquisite clay pots.
