Review Summary

Micro Espresso is widely regarded as a premier destination for specialty coffee in Old Montreal, consistently praised for its high-quality roasts, expertly prepared lattes, and exceptional espresso. Visitors frequently highlight the friendly and skilled staff, noting that while the shop is physically small with limited seating primarily at the bar, the cozy atmosphere and thoughtful design create a charming experience. Although some customers mention longer wait times for certain manual brew methods, the overwhelming consensus points to it being a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts seeking a superior, flavor-rich drink in a relaxed environment.

This probably turned into one of my favorite cafés in Montréal. It's such a treat to get coffee from Micro Espresso, & I love picking up a bag of their coffee beans to enjoy it at home. The service is always super friendly, & I'm already thinking about the next time I go back.

The espresso in my cortado was perfect, not too bitter not too sour. Immediately bought a bag of beans to take home.

Maybe not as super-high of a review as some of the others here. I tend to buy pretty high quality beans for my pour-over & I have been doing it for some time now. I felt the pour-over here was pretty lackluster to say the least. It took an inordinate amount of time, which never helps the taste profile. I know'espresso' is in the name of the shop, & the pour-over concept is sort of newer north of the border. Just 2 years ago I couldn't find a pour-over anywhere between Montreal & Tremblant. So this is a good step.

As mentioned, the service for the cup was slow. 2 people behind the counter were nice enough; the girl more than the guy. He made the cup & it just took a while.

The chocolate pastry we got was excellent.

Atmosphere was very nice, but small inside. There are a few spots at the counter but generally this is a takeaway shop. I do enjoy sitting & tasting the coffee. But that wasn't in the cards for this trip so we brought it with us.

Next time I'll try the espresso to see if it hits better.

A cute little coffee shop hidden in a corner of Old Port. It's mostly for takeout but they do have a tiny seating area. Great coffee served by friendly & skilled baristas! I always go for an iced latte which is definitely one of the best I've ever had in Montreal. Also LOVE their small batch roasted beans for espresso & cold brew.

Update: still my fav place 2 years later!

Tiny space with a few stools at the bar & great service offering excellent espresso & great pastries. Knowledgeable & professional/friendly staff. Offering up their own roasted beans. Highly recommend!

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a coffee fanatic, but as a batista myself, I consume an obscene amount of coffee & this has been one of the best coffee I have ever had. The seamless blend of bean, milk, & syrup was perfection. I was sad when I drank it all. I also had a sesame miso cookie(?) on a whim & gosh, I should have gotten another 2. Thank you for a great cup of coffee. The platinum blond batista was so friendly.
