Hidden gem

today

Went there yesterday & I'd like to say its one of my favorite experience I had with fine dining. This crudo was so exquisse & what can I say about the dessert... IT WAS AMAZING. Its one of the best restaurant I've tried in my life & chef Aves was so warm with us, answering questions & explaining us everything, details by details. I would go back there anytime.
Thanks for having us again, was MEMOrable.

I went yesterday with my family & extremely disappointing. What I could see use to be a well kept place, decorated with taste, was dirty & run down. Glassware dirty, interior of place rundown, kitchen desorganized. Dishes pretty but no outstanding taste. When I reserved the week before, the Michelin red plate was still on the exterior facade which made me reserve, but it was false representation. The chef Remi Lemieux, who got the Michelin reward, left almost a year ago. We should have run away at the first signs once sitting down: broken curtains, run down bar, dirty wineglasses, no white table cloths like on instagram pictures. The new administration kept the name but changed the logo from red burgundy to white. We were mislead to thinking it was a Michelin recommendation but it is not anymore. Very expensive for what we got. We were fooled by past reputation.

I went to Memo for the first time in January 2026 & I LOVED the experience, the service & the food! Sadly, I returned mid-July & it was disappointing.

On arrival we were asked if we wanted to start with something to drink, but all they had was the wine for the accord or basic cocktails. The first course having no accord either, the three of us decided to wait.

We went for the 7-course tasting menu, for dinner (110CA per person) The quantity of food was just OK, one service being a third of a slice of bread. It's a good thing we ate in the afternoon since we were celebrating, because I am not sure I would have feeled full. For the price, I was expecting more. Compared to January, the plates were on the lighter side & more expensive.

The wine accord was definitely not enough: 4 tastings of 2 onzes (approximately, sometimes it felt less) each, for 60CA per person. We should have gone with our first idea to buy a bottle of wine instead. The staff said at the beginning we would get surprises but nothing was offered, except hard liquor at the end which we don't drink, & didn't show generosity throughout the evening. We left unsatisfied for the price of the experience. I will not return.

There is so much to say about my experience here. An upstart chef, a front of house that cares, wine pairings that delight & surprise. I will always remember my meal here. Get a reservation now for this best kept secret in Montreal. I am legitimately floored on how indelible this evening was with each course. They change the menu often, so I will just share my pics. I will say the heirloom tomato dish gave me goosebumps. Also the chef is highly receptive to feedback.

Very good portion sizes, esp for ladies. Excellent value for money considering the quality of food. menu showcases a wide variety of local Quebec ingredients, giving diners a great opportunity to experience regional flavours & produce.
