Delicious authentic Chinese food. The Xiao long Bao (soup dumpling) is really good. Prices are decent, average. Nice couple who own & work there (I think). People come in here to dine in too, it's cute but not super atmospheric. Clean & tidy. I usually do take out. What I'm impressed by is the fact that at each table you get soy sauce, chili, & Chinese black vinegar!
A small, often bustling crowd forms at the entrance, bottom of diagonal entry steps, as they await expectantly for fragrant take out.
A charming mini terrace with a 1/2 dz. small, wood slat topped tables is out front, ringed with flower boxes between the outer brick wall & Sherbrooke St. sidewalk, S. side.
Waiter table service both inside & out, Menus are presented on a waterproof plasticized card. Dumplings are the house specialty, handmade & served in their authentic wooden steamers.
I enjoyed the breaded crispy chicken with Katsu sauce & sticky rice. Delicious. Always friendly lady at the counter is very cooperative.
We shall return, again & again.
🙂
Love my green bean pea & vermicelli dumplings & it was really relaxing but the only thing I'd suggest is not using plastic packaging for the sauce especially when you eat in person! (Edit: they solved this issue by either letting me fill my bowl within the resto or reusing the plastic containers) I pay extra to eat in person to help reduce plastic from takeout. Thank you & I'll be back to try the other 3 veg dumpling options soon :) :) Edit : I returned & tried the veggie egg & spinach dumplings & they were amazing & the waitress let me make a bowl of sauce myself so I didn't have to take the plastic ones. I suggest everyone do this for environmental reasons ☺️ looking forward to trying the tofu dumplings & the broccoli dumpling. Edit 3: Tried the tofu mushroom cabbage dumplings & they were great
First of all the staff is adorable, super soft spoken & kind. There was a small waiting time & the food was delicious. I forgot to take pictures because i was too busy devouring the dunplings 😂 They served the dumplings with a kind of spicy soy sauce? Idk but i loved it. I also took sesame balls for dessert. They tasted fresh, & were not too sweet, so perfect. Really happy with the experience, 10/10 food 10/10 staff
I had the fried curry chicken dumplings made fresh which I enjoyed with the soya blend hot sauce on the table. The spring rolls are a great appetizer. The menu offers a variety of choices served with rice & salad. Simple seating & atmosphere but if you're hungry enjoy!
So the reason why I gave this place 5 stars for atmosphere is because it matches its value product offering - Meaning, they pricing is extremely fair & their quality, freshness, & portions as well as taste exceed their pricing. We had number 8 shrimp wonton soup for two with bok choy & noodles, with a sesame finish that was so excellent you don't even need to add soy or anything as the broth is beyond delicious. I could have a bowl of broth alone & be happy. The soup came with 8 sizeable wontons that were fantastic & juicy & filled with shrimp. 🍤 We then had number 35 dumpling filled with shrimp 🍤 , porc 🐖 & chives & it was cooked fried as you can tell. It needed no additional seasoning or sauce once again - a testament to their ability to create deep balanced umami flavours perfectly on its own without needing extras. The soup was $9.99 & the dumplings (15 of them) was $23.99 - well worth it. & we got two wonton cookies with the usual message inside & they were a great end to the meal. Next time we plan to try the chicken & mushroom dumplings & hope to have enough room to try the fried sesame balls with red bean paste inside. Yummy right! Very important to know, the owner is so genuine & sweet. She is so appreciative of her customers & runs around the restaurant keeping customers happy while making sure the cash & take out are also managed. enjoy all.
Stumbled upon this place & will definitely return! Alex was a very gracious server. Had 2 types of dumplings: vermicelli/spinach/chives & pork/shrimp/chives. Unless you're allergic, get the peanut sauce & thank me later 😉
HIDDEN GEM ALERT! 💎 What an absolute find. This is a place that prides itself on its homemade, fresh, tasty dumplings. We ordered the #35, shrimp pork & chive dumplings. Immediately, you can tell the dumplings are hand made, fried or steamed to order. They're not even soup dumplings, but they are still juicy & full of flavor. They were served piping hot & we had all the right table ingredients to make dumpling sauce (soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil). When you open the dumplings, you can see pieces of whole shrimp, pork & chives, so you know it's real ingredients. Alex was extremely kind, hardworking & passionate. He was very friendly, fast service & knows his dumplings! I would keep coming here again & again. The inside of the restaurant is simple, very clean & feels very cozy. I hope people try this place. I hope this place becomes popular & people start coming here more & more. Give it a shot, you won't have regrets.
The service was perfect, the gentleman that served us was polite. & our food was prepared & a very timely manner. The peanut butter dumplings both fried & steamed were exceptional. The best peanut butter sauce I've had in a long time. We had the tofu, pork & shrimp dumplings which are all delicious. My 16-year-old had a matcha bubble tea which was not too sweet as most other bubble teas tend to be. Overall very pleased & highly recommend.
