Review Summary

Mariposa is widely regarded as a welcoming community hub in Montreal that excels as a venue for live music and professional open mic events. Visitors consistently praise the warm, friendly staff and the cozy atmosphere, which makes it a popular spot for meeting friends and enjoying diverse musical talent. While experiences with the food are somewhat mixed, with some patrons highly recommending the smoked meat and pizza while others finding certain items like burgers and fajitas inconsistent in temperature and quality, the overall sentiment remains positive due to the vibrant environment, exceptional sound quality, and the supportive nature of the establishment toward local performers.

Went there for the show which was very good.
'The Madhatters'
Welcoming & friendly establishment. I figured a lot of the people I saw were regulars.
Nice & cosy place for music.
No dance floor to speak of. If you don't mind crowded, then you're home.
Great service from our waitress from Alberta.

Now let's talk about what we ate. 1 ⭐? is too generous.
I had the cheeseburger & sweet potato fries.

My cheeseburger arrived slightly warm/cold. The bun is horrific. Cold, no butter, the cheese was not even melted.
It was also gritty on top & flavourless.
The meat was unseasoned, lukewarm, hard, overcooked, dry & packed so hard together, I got a workout trying to cut it down & chew it in smaller bites.
I small slice of lettuce, tomato butts & not much else to say about it. I was hungry so I ate it & discarded the sandy bun.

The sweet potatoes were also on the cold side. Not nice & thick like most of the times I've had them in other places. Thin, hard, overcooked.

My husband had a chicken fajita & he said his chicken was dry & tasteless. His fries were good.

Would I recommend this place? For a show & a drink, yes.
Other foods, maybe. The man in front of me also ordered the cheeseburger & I could tell he didn't like it bc he stopped eating it after 1/2.
