Marché Hung Phat is widely praised as a top spot for banh mi in Montreal, offering affordable, filling sandwiches with crusty bread and classic fillings such as grilled chicken, lemongrass beef, meatball, and pork options, along with other Vietnamese snacks and desserts in a small market setting. Reviewers highlight fast, efficient service and the option to have sandwiches toasted for free, with the menu written in Vietnamese, French, and English and extra meat available for a small charge. The sandwiches are described as fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned at a good price, making it a reliable lunch or quick bite near Jean Talon Market. Some feedback notes thinner fillings in recent years and occasional service hiccups or less attentive staff, but most still rank it among the best banh mi in Montreal and a standout value. Overall, Marché Hung Phat stands out for its bread quality, variety of fillings, and combination of a casual grocery market and quick meals that keep customers returning.
One of the best banh mi in the area ! My boss(e)s's were the one who suggested me to try at that place & I bought a few for my boss(e)s's & I to share together!
Has a lot of things there too like sauces, drinks, ramen & I saw some of my childhood chips/cookies! (I had to grab a pocky there) have a nice varieties there & it's like THE spot to go eat banh mi at in still a pretty decent price 🥰
They do banh mi on the order & it taste really good ! I took the'B1' (the original one) on their menu & was a great lunch during our break time 🫶
I'm a regular customer there & staff there are very efficient working there & never got disappointed everytime I eat banh mi or their pre-made food they packed on a fresh daily basis! ❤?

Fast paced, regular lunch spot that never disappoints!
I typically order a classic, lemongrass beef, or meatball banh mi, but have also got their curry soup, which was flavourful & filling. They have veggie sandwich options too.
The prices are affordable & they have a solid selection of snacks, pre-packaged Vietnamese dishes, & drinks (Le Selzter pictured) to choose from. You can't go wrong!
The Banh-mi is absolutely incredible. The baguette was crispy. We took the grilled chicken & just the right kick of chili. Generous portion for the price.
It used to be the best banhmi in Montreal, but lately, they reduced the length of the bread, the quantity of meat is ridiculously less, & they raised the price.
The bahn mi from Marché Hung Phat is some of the best I have had. Fresh & delicious. Service is quick & the prices are great for the quality of food. The marche itself has a bunch of other really interesting groceries & foods...💯💯 recommend!
L'une des places de référence pour un Banh Mì vietnamien à Montréal. Très accessible en raison de sa proximité avec le métro Jean-Talon, les Banh Mì du marché Hung Phat sont très bien pour un prix raisonnable. L'original & celle au poulet sont mes go to. Je recommande fortement. Ps la file d'attente peut être relativement longue en raison de la popularité de cet endroit. On of the reference place for a Vietnamese Banh Mì in Montreal. Near of the Jean-Talon station, the banh mí of "marché Hung Phat" are really tasty & délicieux for reasonable price. The original & chicken one are my go to. I highly recommended it. Ps., the queue can be relatively long due to the popularity of this place.
Very friendly & efficient ladies working the counter! The sandwiches were fresh & delicious, the bread had a crispy exterior yet soft interior that paired well with the crunchy veggies & soft meat. Also reasonably priced at $6.95 each. They have a great variety of tasty che (ba mau, sam bo luong, suong sa hot luu & another kind I believe) & layered pandan jelly (there's no specific labels so it's a little hard to identify the products sometimes) + their iced coffee is strong enough to wake you up (& not too sweet). Overall, have been going to this place a few times & it's always been a good experience, would definitely recommend!!
Finally! I think I've found the best & cheapest bun bo Hue (at $12.50 +tax) in Montreal. Made to order with a very robust broth, ample sliced beef shank, cha lua sausage, & optional pork hock (I opted to replace it with extra bean sprouts), perfectly chewy bun noodles, & abundant toppings of herbs + thinly sliced onions. The photo shows only half of what I received in my order.
They have two vegetarian banh-mi options, seasoned tofu & mushrooms; both were also excellent & priced at $6.50 each. There are many meat banh-mi options & several soup noodles, including bun rieu.
Despite the never-ending line, service was efficient & friendly. This is primarily a take-out & grocery store, with one table & 4 chairs. They have reasonably priced bubble teas, che desserts, & other prepared Vietnamese treats. A true neighborhood gem.
