Mama Sofia Pupuseria is a charming spot that pleasantly surprised me with both its variety & quality. While it's known for its Salvadoran roots, I was especially impressed by their baked goods. The bread & baguettes were fresh, with a perfect crust on the outside & a soft, airy texture inside-simple but very satisfying.
The éclairs were another highlight. They were well-made, with a light choux pastry & a smooth, flavorful filling that wasn't overly sweet. It's clear that attention is given to both taste & presentation, making each item feel thoughtfully prepared. Having this kind of pastry quality in a cozy, local place really adds to its appeal.
One of the practical advantages of this location is the availability of parking space, which makes visiting stress-free, especially if you're planning to pick up several items or dine in. It's always a plus in a busy area like Montreal.
The staff also deserve recognition for their friendliness & welcoming attitude. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth & genuine hospitality, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. They're helpful, patient, & happy to answer questions or make recommendations.
Overall, Mama Sofia Pupuseria offers more than you might expect at first glance. Between the tasty bread, quality pastries like éclairs, convenient parking, & kind service, it's a spot worth visiting whether you're in the mood for something quick or looking to try something new. I'd definitely return to explore more of their menu.
Pupusas are very tasty. Love the revueltas ones. The sauce could be a bit thicker to my taste but still good.
Very small eating area. Fits 1-2 famillies. Breakfast was tasty. Classical Salvadorian home made! Pupusas are the best around the east end. The lady at front desk was super nice & welcoming. They also carry many Salvadorian groceries.
Great food. Owned & run by a nice warm friendly family. Pupusas are very tasty. It's also a small store selling Latino can goods & other things. I've been there many times & will go there when I'm in the area next time. My Montreal familia.
