Really great restaurant, the variety kind of threw me off as it's kind of hard to pin down if this is a chinese, filipino, viet restaurant, but it's clearly sort of a thing of its own. The Hainan Chicken was really good, the Hakka Gnocchi was really soft & tender (although a bit hot for the season, i feel like it would be an absolute stand-out comfort dish in winter) The surprising stand out for me was the fried beef po-boy which dipped in the sauces of the hainan chicken is an absolutely insane combo. Shrimp toast was really well cooked & a great surprise too!
Mango sago was one of the first times i have actually well cooked tapioca in a restaurant that isn't a boba shop or something like that & the miso cherry ice cream was very good & the exact kind of experimental food that makes me want to go to restaurants.
Service was great, restaurant was very cute although it's a bit hot in there. I understand peoples complaints about location but in summer the walk isn't too bad. Will definitely come here again next time i'm in the area! Lovely place. Only got a picture of the hainan chicken cause i was too hungry 😶?🌫?
Went to Montreal for a quick little vacation & can't stop thinking about this place. Highly recommend it if you enjoy both traditional & unique bites. Somehow they've managed to amplify food we've all enjoyed before while making them unique to Jofei. Hot tip: Start with the grilled cheese. It took me by surprise!
Could not wait to try this place out. Had also seen reviews on La Presse & The Infatuation sites. The food did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the Hainanese Chicken Rice dish. It was delicious! The Steak Salad from The Specials was also a highlight for me. Also had one too many bowls of the Mango Pomelo Sago. Absolutely loved this dessert. Will be back!
Such a unique space & menu. Went for lunch with a small group, so I was able to try many dishes.
Everything was delicious, but the ones I can't stop thinking about are all the desserts! This was one of the best mango sago desserts I've ever had. The strawberry Qi Lan sorbet was so refreshing & the tea-ramisu was surprisingly light. All the desserts had clean flavours & oddly enough even tasted great together. If you have room after the generously portioned mains, I recommend getting all 3 desserts.
For the appetizer, the grilled cheese & shrimp toast were amazing. My favourite main was the Hainan chicken rice. I could eat the rice alone as a meal & be happy. Such great flavours & quality ingredients.
Excellent service & the owners welcome you like family. Need to come back to try other items!
Les plats sont savoureux , jolis & généreux. Le personnel sympathique & le lieu est chaleureux.
Un coup de coeur ce resto :)
Super quaint neighborhood spot with delicious authentic Chinese food. Owners are super nice & the vibe is very cute. Highly recommend.
Très belle découverte! Excellentes bouffes tout autant pour le service. Saveurs uniques asiatique, a essayer!
Found this hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant in Montreal, & I'm so glad we did! The ingredients are very generous, the portions are huge, & everything is incredibly reasonably priced.
The shrimp toast was delicious. The fresh, savory flavor of the shrimp paired perfectly with the crispy, crunchy bread.
The deep-fried braised quail was such an interesting & unique dish. The skin was incredibly crispy, while the meat was savory & full of flavor.
The beef noodle soup was definitely my favorite. They give you a lot of beef - honestly, it felt like there was almost more beef & toppings than noodles! 😂 The broth was rich & deeply flavorful, with a taste that reminded me of Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Highly recommended!
The Hainanese chicken rice was another pleasant surprise. The chicken was incredibly tender & juicy, & the special house-made sauce made every bite so satisfying. It also came with a complimentary soup, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable.
For dessert, we tried the matcha tiramisu. The owner told us that the ladyfingers are soaked in tea, & surprisingly, the tea flavor pairs really well with the matcha. It was fragrant, light, & not overly sweet or heavy at all.
We also ordered the ice cream, which the owner said they make in-house in the Italian gelato style. The strawberry flavor is made with real strawberries, & you can really taste the freshness. Definitely worth trying!
Overall, this is definitely a restaurant I'll be coming back to. Great food, generous portions, unique dishes, & excellent value. A real hidden gem in Montreal!
There is a wide variety of food to choose from, featuring delicious & unique Asian flavors. Everything we ordered was fresh & full of flavor. The staff were warm, friendly, & attentive, making us feel very welcome throughout our visit. It was a wonderful dining experience, & we'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended!
Delicious food, generous portion & absolutely charming service! Only thing that was not perfect was the lighting which was a bit too much for us. However, I totally recommend & please keep up your good work!
