Reviews indicate that Madras Curry House delivers authentic South Indian flavors with generous portions and good value, featuring favorites like idli, uttapam, dosas, sambar and chutneys, plus standout dishes such as chicken curry and mutton kothu roti; the food is described as fragrant, well spiced, and comforting, often paired with warm hospitality. While the kitchen can be small and wait times may occur, diners repeatedly praise consistent quality and the friendly, unobtrusive service, making it a favorite option for South Indian meals in Montreal and a true hidden gem.
I'm used to Toronto Indian food, particularly South Indian, & this spot is on par with the absolute best I've had in Toronto, at some big name places. The Masala Dosa is excellent, with the dosa crispy & the chutneys really pop. The Medhu Vada were beautifully crunchy on the outside, & pillowy soft on the inside, & the Idli Sambar were excellent. The Sambar in particular was very well spiced, not hot, but not dull, & chock full of veggies in every bite. Overall, a great experience, & one that I've missed since I've moved to MTL!

It's an almost hidden place & most prob you'll miss the small board. Food is a bit spicy if you're not used to Indian cuisine. It's run by a handful of jolly folks, super eager to help you out. Overall, food is good, I'm not sure if I'd want to try it often. Dosas & chicken items are good.
We always choose this restaurant when we're in the downtown (near Guy-Concordia) area. It has a relaxed atmosphere, the food is tasty, & the prices are reasonable. The chicken curry is fantastic, & other South Indian dishes like dosa, idli-vada, & utthapam are delicious. However, I'm not a fan of the rotis here. Overall, we recommend it.
I had the most pleasant experience here. Authentic south food, tastes really great, & most of all, it's really fresh & clean. Please keep maintaining the same standards.
Absolutely a gem this place is for south Indian food lovers. Located on a very unusual spot of the housing lane across the Mackay St. Very hard to find at night time as it won't have a super bright lightning board. The food is a top notch factor I gave this place a fantastic 5 ⭐. It's pretty famous amongst the students of Concordia university which is located across the street. The ambience of this place reminds of Indian heritage & the feel of eating home cooked meals with your favorite Hindi Bollywood songs.
Felt like being cheated with the menu. The dishes served are not the same as the name of the dishes. Tried chicken 65 - not good chilli chicken - worst I have ever I had. The amount of sauce in the dish is just unbelievable. Chicken 65 Fried Rice - the worst one ever had. Fried rice is supposed to be a fried rice not rice over cooked & sticky. & I haven't seen so much sauce being used in fried rice. Dosa items are really good. Need to think about changing the chef or the method of cooking. not worth the money except dosa items.
I tried the Dosa here, & it was excellent. A nice little restaurant in downtown, an extensive menu - I will revisit to try other items that look very appealing. It's definitely on my list of Indian restaurants in Montreal with a true authentic touch & superb taste.
