L’Olive Noire is a rich and colorful restaurant. The framework of L’Olive Noire is in itself an invitation to travel.
It is in our restaurant you will find North Africa fine cuisine and especially traditional Moroccan dishes. The star dish is couscous, which is available in different versions, the classic being the lamb couscous. L’Olive Noire is located in Montreal, Ontario Street East, Pie-IX metro station.
You will be greeted by the owner himself, in a warm atmosphere with oriental back ground music.
Reviewers describe L'Olive Noire as delivering hearty, authentic Moroccan cuisine with generous portions and prices that many feel are fair given the size of the dishes. Dishes such as lamb and chicken tagines, couscous with merguez, pastilla with almonds, zaalouk, and even dessert like crepe mille trous are repeatedly praised for depth of flavor and careful preparation. The atmosphere is praised as authentic and the service described as warm and attentive, with a welcoming vibe and decor that evokes travel. Several notes emphasize that the restaurant is halal and serves no alcohol, and water sometimes comes with a charge, which is a downside for some. A few reviews mention occasional service slowdowns when the place is busy, occasional miscommunications about dishes, and in one case a perception of unequal service order by gender. Overall, however, the consensus is positive, with many recommending L'Olive Noire for a satisfying, flavorful Moroccan experience and for big portions and hearty meals.
The food is excellent & the portions are more than enough. Good prices. However, very cold inside, we were freezing. &, noticed some insalubrity (the waiter dropped some bread on the floor just before me & still gave it to the client who ordered it, instead of bringing a new one).
Vraiment excellent ! Meilleur resto marocain depuis longtemps !

We are two associations who had organized a multicultural Ramadhan dinner composed of more than 35 people. Evey single person appreciated the authentic delicious food of all dishes as we shared everything altogether. So we feel so grateful to the owner & his working stuff for making our dinner that amazing & successful ! I deeply recommend this place ! not only the food also the decoration, every single detail is taken care of (the background music, the decoration, the service, etc)
