Great Lake Swimmers concert on Friday, April 17:
Great show (5 stars)! Sound was excellent given the low ceilings & stone walls.
Venue (2 stars): The opening duo & GLS were folky, with many quieter, acoustic songs. The BARTENDER spent much of these songs SPEAKING & LAUGHING with his buddy so LOUDLY that he drowned out the music. Zero respect (or self awareness?). We could see the artists looking at him with disbelief & annoyance during their performances. A real vibe-killer. Self-serve water station at the bar was really appreciated though. Venue was hot & poorly ventilated.
good but they play a lot of the same songs every Friday & for some reason everyone still loses their shit when the songs come on
I was expecting to come to a latin club as the description indicates, so was completely surprised to find there was nothing latin about it when we arrived. I wasn't dead set on a latin experience so I didn't mind, but I just found it surprising & humourous that it was pitched as a latin spot. This was a full out college bar, average age range was 18-23. Corresponding to this - the drinks are cheap. Although it is a very limited bar. The bartenders are great though. This place gets really crowded later into the night. Music is primarily club anthems anywhere from the late 90's to current, but leaning towards songs that are 5-15 years old. No cover & the doormen don't give you attitude so they get points for being easygoing as well.
