I liked the atmosphere of the old location on de la Montagne better, but this is a nice spot to work on a laptop. It was always a nice place to get vegan drinks & treats & I appreciated them adding new things at different times.

I am disappointed that they have made the decision to no longer be a vegan cafe although I am sure it is difficult to sustain a business. However I found it dishonest to only have a small sign saying that Leaves is no longer vegan after 10 years. There should be a big sign (or multiple signs) *before* ordering (instead of where you stand after ordering while waiting for drinks), &/or non-vegan items should be labelled as NOT vegan or containing dairy. I didn't notice that only *some* items are labelled as vegan, especially because the writing is very decorative, & would have been really disappointed if I had accidentally ordered something that was not vegan. I assume you are trying to not draw attention to the change so that people won't be mad, but it is really disrespectful to your vegan or allergic customers who have been supporting this cafe for a decade to not make this very clear in the cafe. I know severe allergies are rare but it is also dangerous for people who do have severe allergies. Hopefully the signage has been updated since I was there.

I was extremely saddened to find out today that leaves was no longer completely vegan. I would love to know what prompted this decision. I have been going here for years becuse it is the only place near my home, & one of the only places in all of mtl, that I can have a good coffee drink & pastry & not have to worry about my allergies. Now there will be inevitable cross contamination in the food & drinks & it is no longer safe for me to eat here. They've lost one long time loyal customer today, & I can't imagine I'm the only one.

Veganism was the literal only thing going for this place. Incorporating animal abuse is the wrong move, will surely play out like Commensal. Desperate move of a failing business.

Des gens qui font passer leur profit au dépend des animaux exploités pour les produits laitiers. Les produits laitiers contiennent énormément de souffrances & morts animales évitables & les propriétaires de ce restaurant ont décidé d'encourager ça pour avoir plus de clientèle. À vomir 🤮 !

J'y étais avec mes amies, le service était vraiment nul. Les 2 filles qui nous servait étaient tellement hautaines & mean girls, chaque fois qu'on posait des questions, elles se regardaient & rigolé. Aucun respect & les cookies sont DEGUEULASSE 🤮🤮

One of the last vegan cafés in Montreal (at least downtown); amazing selection of snacks & drinks! They make great matcha here!
