What a fabulous restaurant this was & even better dining experience. The service was on point & the food was fresh, tasty & well worth the visit. If you enjoy a nice intimate dinner with a loved one or friends then I highly recommend visiting P'tit Plateau.
Update 2025 - Came back here to visit after seeing a change on their menu from prix fix to standard a la carte. The restaurant underwent new ownership but I'm happy to say the quality of food continues to excel, alongside the service. If I can make one recommendation, it's to attempt to change the menu either seasonally or yearly. It'll definitely keep me coming back.View more
Très belle soirée! Bonne cuisine . Bravo!View more
View more
Our server, Chelsea, greeted us when we entered. While our reservation didn't get received for some reason, she welcomed us, & seated us. We arrived at 6:30 pm & the restaurant filled up over the next 45 minutes. Be sure to make a reservation.
I appreciated that Chelsea wasn't pretentious & she didn't push appetizers or dessert. She simply made excellent recommendations. When the restaurant was full, & she was busy, she efficiently handled the rush.
I had the veal shank with vegetables, which was excellent, & quite filling. We would definitely eat there again!View more
Wow... dinner here last night with my wife was one of the best meals either of us have had in a really long time, & as true foodies who cook all the time & love exploring & eating at all kinds of wonderful places... trust me when I say that's saying something!
The food here is astonishingly good!! We started with the escargot which is impeccable, just delicious in every way... my wife had the incredible leg of lamb, & I had the extraordinary cassoulets... wow. It's hard to explain how amazing the guys in the kitchen's food truly is, I was looking for any critique possible & I didn't have one, a perfect 10/10 meal.
Atmosphere is amazing, everyone else there was sitting enjoying each other's company & food & sharing the wine they all brought... another incredible aspect of the place! The lady serving us was very friendly & happy as well. This is a hidden gem 100%... share a stunning meal with the people you care about 👌🏻View more
View more
Had a lovely evening in a cozy setting with great French food. Our server was delightful & brought champagne flutes for our bubbly & was attentive without being intrusive.View more
We visited Le P'tit Plateau for supper. On the positive side, the decor was both ornate & quirky & perfectly captured the spirit of the Plateau. The atmosphere was convivial & pleasant. Our server was kind, attentive, & on-point. The proteins were well-cooked.
However, the dishes & policies were not without issues. I want to say first off that this feedback is intended to be constructive & to promote the success of the restaurant. In defense of the owner, Le P'tit Plateau has much competition in the city & they are a small restaurant. Having worked in restaurants all over the city, I can sympathize.
With that said, if you choose to dine at Le P'tit Plateau, pleasr be aware of their punishing policies. First, if you need to cancel a reservation for any reason, even for a medical emergency, & don't do so at least 7 hours in advance, the credit card of the person who made the reservation will be charged 30$ *per person.*
Second, at Le P'tit Plateau, every person must order at least one of their main dishes. If you have someone who is not very hungry, that person still has to order at least *3* appetizers. We have dined in restaurants all over the world & have never seen this before. This policy is not welcoming to diners; it is coercive & off-putting.
Finally, while the proteins were well-cooked, most of the dishes were underseasoned. Many dishes were lacking in acidity & came off as tasting flat. The garnishes were often bizarre & did not fit the dishes (e.g. they used raw bell peppers in vinaigrette as a garnish in multiple dishes that they don't go with, such as the foie gras). That same foie gras dish included both a tasty & sweet prune confit & raw cucumbers & bell peppers that didn't go with either the foie or the prune confit. The prune confit was a brilliant accompaniment, but the peppers & cucumbers should be replaced.
Most of the dishes were plain & lacked exciting elements to make Le P'tit Plateau stand out from other French restaurants in the city. Unfortunately, the platings also lacked finesse, often used the same approach (e.g. strangely spaced out elements separated on the plate), & appeared outdated like platings from the 1980s. Revising & modernizing the plating approach would be helpful (e.g. the owner could study Montreal restaurant Isola Bella's eye-catching platings to elevate their own appeoach).
To help the owner of Le P'tit Plateau, I'd like to offer another example of a Montréal restaurant that they could pull inspiration from to improve their experience. One of Le P'tit Plateau's French cuisine Bring Your Own Wine competitors in Montréal is the amazing Le Millen. Le Millen do not have punishing policies because their food is so good that they don't need them. Their platings are absolutely beautiful. Every dish is perfectly seasoned & includes creative & surprising elements. Each plating is completely different so you get both great visual & flavour variety. They use creative techniques like colourful powders on the base of the plate for more visual dynamics & subtle flavour additions. They also offer tasting menus, which Le P'tit Plateau does not.
If Le P'tit Plateau does not wish to offer tasting menus, they could still offer Table D'Hote options, which would add much more value to the diner. If they had Table D'Hotes, they could remove the rule about needing to order 3 appetizers because people would spend more.
If I were the Chef / owner of Le P'tit Plateau, I would go to Le Millen & Isola Bella & take notes on everything they do right. Then I would revamp my policies & menu accordingly.
With that said, Le P'tit Plateau has great potential, a great ambiance, a great location, & a great team. If they are open to tweaking their food execution, platings, & policies, they could easily be a top contender in the Montréal restaurant scene. Wishing them all the best.View more
Consistent food for the past 15 years.
Visiting Montreal this past Spring & dined in some famous restaurants. Plateau was still up there as one of my top picks without breaking the bank. Excellent food & service in Saturday night with my wife.View more

Small & cozy. The food & the service is amazing. Must try the escargots, the duck & their creme brûlée (probably one of the best creme brûlée I've ever had!)View more
View more
Félicitations au chef !View more
Merci au chef Asan, Nihed & MélanieView more
