Le Petit Italien centers its culinary focus on traditional Italian staples by highlighting the preparation of handmade pasta and wood-fired pizzas. The menu features a diverse selection of regional preparations including carbonara and margherita pies crafted with imported flour and artisanal cheeses. Guests interact with an open concept layout designed to prioritize efficiency and direct observation of the cooking process. Sourcing emphasizes classic Mediterranean ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, vine-ripened tomatoes, and fresh basil to ensure consistent flavor profiles. The environment maintains a functional aesthetic that centers on the production of authentic dishes rather than decorative ornamentation. Diners find a consistent output of staples reflecting standard coastal Italian methodologies within this specialized culinary space.
Le Petit Italien offers a vibrant and inviting atmosphere, frequently enhanced by talented live musicians that create a memorable dining experience. While the establishment is highly regarded for its beautiful terrace and warm, intimate setting, guest feedback regarding the cuisine remains varied. Many diners praise the fresh pasta, savory sauces, and delicious appetizers like focaccia, though inconsistencies in cooking techniques and flavor profiles for certain main courses have been noted. Service quality also draws mixed reactions; while many visitors enjoy professional and accommodating attention, others express frustration with pacing and staff conduct. Despite these differing experiences, the general consensus reflects a charming neighborhood spot that many are eager to revisit.
Le Petit Italien is a fantastic spot with a menu that offers a great variety for every taste. The pasta was excellent, & both the meatball entrée & the duck were absolutely delicious highlights of the meal (though portions of some meals can be on the small side)
Service was quick, friendly, & attentive throughout. It's also a wonderful place to eat, whether you choose to dine inside or enjoy the outdoor patio. The drinks were fine overall, though the P&P was a bit heavy on the lemon & light on the peach. But everything else made for a great experience.
Beautiful terrace on a pedestrian street. The food tasted good, but the portions were quite small.
We had to ask the staff a couple of times about what happened to our main courses since other customers who came after us got theirs.

We had a wonderful evening at Le Petit Italien in Montréal! We visited on a very busy Friday night, & the atmosphere was buzzing, both indoors & on the terrace.
Even though we had an 8:00 PM reservation, we arrived 40 minutes early after our show finished ahead of schedule, & the staff was kind enough to accommodate us right away on their beautiful terrace on Bernard Street.
Despite being one team member short, the service was exceptionally professional & attentive. The team was hustling but maintained a great attitude, & they were extremely apologetic about the wait times between courses, which was clearly not their fault!
We started with the focaccia, which was delicious, & the Hugo Spritz, was amazing & perfectly balanced.
For our main courses, it was a bit of a mixed experience:
-My friend ordered the Lobster & Shrimp pasta, which was absolutely delicious with freshly made pasta! (9/10)
-I ordered the rigatoni with rapini & sausages, which unfortunately missed the mark. The pasta was way undercooked & lukewarm, & the sauce had a surprisingly sugary taste, though the sausage chunks were good. (3/10)
We finished the meal with the tiramisu, which was solid & enjoyable. (8/10)
Overall, despite one dish not working out, the service & the lovely atmosphere made for a great experience. We would definitely return for a second visit!
