GREAT FRIENDLY ENERGY! We popped in for a drink & a couple of songs while visiting Montreal. Friendly attentive staff & the karaoke host got us into rotation right away. It's a super friendly crowd (mixed demographic) that are supportive of all singers. I would definitely return when in town again.
AMAZING karaoke bar in Montreals fabulous LGBTQ neighborhood. This bar is so lively, came here on a Saturday night, it was packed by around midnight. Drinks were good, service was good. The patrons singing were great; such a fun energy in this place! Highly suggest coming here!
Awesome place to dance & drink with your friends on a Friday or Saturday night, some other nights of the week is also pretty good. It can take a while for you to sing though on a busy night

BEWARE: DJ will remove your name from the queue without notice & award your slots to himself or his friends/favourite patrons.
In my case he even bragged to me at the end of the night about how great it had been for him without knowing I was one of those paying customers whose turn he denied so he could indulge himself.
Too bad because the absolute darling of a doorman (Stephen) & the bar staff were beyond expectations & really were friendly, efficient & patient, but this guy just ruined our night.
I'm a longtime singer & karaoke enjoyer, I came at about half past midnight with a large group of people from work even though I didn't really have money to spare & really should've gone home because I haven't been able to sing publicly in a long time & was really made to look forward to it.
So I entered my name into the queue upon arriving, paid twice the normal amount for a beer thinking I'd drink it & go after I'd had my turn. After almost an hour though I began to notice some of my colleagues, including ones who arrived after me, had already gotten two, three turns & the DJ had awarded himself a similar amount, while myself & other friends who had entered their names a long time ago ended up staying until last call & were never called.
So basically I spent over fifty dollars I didn't have & wasted what should have been a productive night on the false promise that I would get a service, & instead ended up paying for some unknown guy to pick a setlist he likes & perform in front of a captive audience.
I've been coming to Le Date for about a year & always loved the atmosphere, respectful crowd, & great performances. It's been my favorite karaoke spot until my last visit, which left me really disappointed & hurt.
That night, the staff member, the person managing the song list: Jessika was dismissive & unprofessional toward me. When I politely asked about my turn to sing (3h after logging it in the system), she waved me off & made a gesture telling me to stay away from the stage, something I've never experienced there before with any of the other DJs (whom I love). On a previous visit, I missed my song because I went to the bathroom, & when I asked if I could still sing, she told me I had lost my chance with no flexibility.
Throughout the night, I noticed Jessika treated other people, those who look more like her, with warmth & friendliness. She spoke kindly to them, joked around, & gave them clear answers about their songs. But with me, she ignored me, refused to communicate, & made me feel excluded. Once it was finally my turn to pass, at 2:50am (knowing that I put my song around 11pm) She even called one of my song choices'horrible' & pressured me to pick another, which was humiliating in a place that's supposed to be fun & welcoming.
Experiencing this microaggression toward me, but also other POCs as well while being completely sober & just trying to enjoy a night of singing, was so very painful & frustrating. The crowd was wonderful as always, but Jessika's treatment completely changed the vibe & left me feeling unsafe & unwelcome.
Le Date is a beautiful spot with great people, & I really hope management addresses this behavior. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly & respectfully in a place meant for enjoyment.
