Located on McGill Street, Le 409 is a contemporary Indian restaurant and lounge with a London influence.
The 409 offers a fine range of classic Indian dishes with a selection of delicious fusion creations. From traditional curries that make up vindaloo lamb to poutine with butter chicken, sit back in a warm and comfortable atmosphere in a Bollywood / Havana setting with one of our famous cocktails.
Le 409 comes across in reviews as a stylish and welcoming spot with a beautiful, warm ambiance that makes it a popular choice for groups, dates, and casual meals alike. Guests consistently mention attentive, friendly service and a staff that strikes the right balance between being helpful and unobtrusive, while the kitchen delivers generous portions and reliably flavorful dishes such as butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, chana masala, paneer starters, and well made naan; the cocktails and wine selection also earn praise. Several comments highlight the value for money given the location, with many noting a refined space, cozy yet sophisticated, and a vibrant atmosphere. Some notes point to dishes that felt milder or less authentic in spice for those seeking bolder flavors, and a few items are described as average compared with the high standard set by the best dishes. Overall, Le 409 is often described as a dependable, high quality dining experience with consistent food, great service, and a welcoming vibe.
Nous avons mangé des plats savoureux, parfaitement bien cuisinés, dans une ambiance très agressante (décor, musique, lumière etc) mais le plus parfait a été le service de Hugo & de son équipe ! Bravo !
We recently visited Le 409, a restaurant that presents itself as a high-end Indian dining experience. The ambiance was undeniably top-notch, with a refined, elegant atmosphere & the enticing aroma of various dishes filling the air. The menu was extensive, offering a wide variety of options. However, when it came to the food, I was quite disappointed. The Chicken 65, which is typically a dry appetizer, was much too hard to chew, with a coating that was unnecessarily thick. Surprisingly, it was the best dish we ordered out of everything. The Paneer Saag was bland & lacked seasoning, with no noticeable salt, leaving it flavorless. On a more positive note, the Garlic Naan was quite good. However, the Chicken Madras was a huge letdown-completely off from the traditional flavor. The overpowering use of coconut overwhelmed the dish, making it by far the worst Chicken Madras I've tasted. Additionally, the service could use improvement. The waiter took away our dishes after the appetizers but forgot to replace them when the main course arrived. We had to wait & eventually call someone over to assist us, which disrupted the dining experience. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, the quality of both the food & the service needs to match the cost. While the ambiance is first-class, they need to deliver good service & food to justify the high prices.
The food is way too salty & pricy at this place overall. Ordered Bahjee onion as appetizer, first of all the waitress forgot our order. Secondly, it's very oily & unbearably salty. Panner naan was very delicious tho. Lamb tikka is pretty dry.
Although the lamb vindaloo was delicious, it just doesn't compare to the Indian food found in Surrey, B.C. Excellent service, but no a lot of privacy. Very cramped.
Friendly bilingual service, beautiful decor, & a welcoming ambiance with soft music set the perfect tone for our dining experience. We were two adults & shared 2 appetizers, 1 main dish, 2 naan breads, & 3 desserts - more than enough for a satisfying meal. Appetizers: - Bhajee d'oignons - Saumon Tikka Main Dish: - Agneau Korma + Garlic naan Desserts: - Les goulabs - Crémeux chocolat Everything was delicious, but the Crémeux chocolat was the only option I would not repeat due to its high sweetness. I recommend the Catnip cocktail, as the lavender was so refreshing! Overall, it was a delightful experience, & I look forward to returning.

Had a wonderful dinner with my girlfriends. The wait staff is amazing & very welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious & some of the best we've had in Montreal. We ordered naan that was out of this world. Super fluffy & flavourful Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, Chana Samosa, Aloo Gobi, Palak Paneer & Rice. Everything was devoured. The food came in 15 minutes after we ordered & was hot & served in the most beautiful dishes. They also have a great non alcoholic cocktail menu & very well presented. The decor in the restaurant is also beautiful & chic. We will definitely be coming back again. The prices are very reasonable too. We each paid $62 including tips.
This restaurant blew me away. Not only the food is superb, the ambience is fantastic, servers are great, the prices are more reasonable than any average Indian restaurant in US. We were here twice during our short stay in Montreal & it was almost like another landmark visit. We had chicken & salmon tikka, chicken 65, Rogan josh, curry, korma & naans, all of it authentic & delicious. Menu was in French but doesn't matter since everything is worth tasting. I dare Boston to come up with a place like this For me this will be a go to place whenever I visit Montreal.
If you want good food in a bar/cocktail atmosphere, this is the place. The restaurant has an "industrial" interior design aesthetic, with lots of cool lights & silverware. This is an excellent place to have Indian food (near Old Port) & this is my go-to. They have a wide array of curries (creamy, spicy etc.) with different selection of meats (e.g. shrimp, lamb, chicken) & vegetables, with a good amount of spice. It is so special to find a place that pulls off a) homey b) classy c) fricking good food &) excellent service. Whenever I take my friends here, we always leave on a full stomach (the full kind where you have to unbutton your pants).
I wish I could find 6 stars. Our server was magnificent. The food was spectacular & the ambience is unbeatable. This is truly a hip, Indian restaurant & bar. The music creates the vibe & the chatter of the patrons draws you in. This is a "must" when visiting Montreal.
Nice Indian restaurant. Really good lamb biryani but rest of dishes were just ok - overall portions are very small in comparison to how high prices are

Merci beaucoup!
Great food with beautiful ambiance & decor. The food is definitely more expensive than what you'll find at other Indian restaurants, but you're paying for the premium of being in the old port & the beautiful interior. Great option if you're looking for good Indian food with an upscale atmosphere.
Went here for dinner on a trip to Montreal. The place has a really good ambience that gets bowled over by the amazing food. An elevated taste of Indian food while retaining a lot of its flavors & some originals mixed in. If the ambience & food doesn't get you happy enough, their superfast service & really friendly staff will surely get there. The place being fully packed is a testament to the 5 star experience of this place. This is on my list of must go restaurants whenever I visit Montreal.
Great ambience. Waited awhile for our drinks. Traditional dishes that were too sweet. It was a bit odd to have sweet butter chicken. Naan & biryani were very good.
