Overall, La Pataterie consistently delivers comforting fast food with a Montreal focus on poutine, burgers, hot dogs, and fries, at affordable prices and generous portions. Reviewers praise crispy double cooked fries, plentiful squeaky cheese curds, and a sauce that ranges from rich and slightly spicy to notably distinctive, with some noting hints of nutmeg or cinnamon. The poutine is often described as the standout item, with many calling it among the best in the city, though a few mention occasional inconsistencies or a sauce that can feel watery. The atmosphere is retro and casual, the staff friendly and efficient, and service is quick, making it a go to spot for locals and visitors alike. A few notes point to aging decor or occasional cleanliness concerns, but the overall impression is value, flavor, and a sense that the place is an institution in the neighborhood. In short, La Pataterie offers a satisfying, affordable, classic comfort food experience with a strong reputation for its poutine.
As classic as a Montreal Casse-Croute favourite can get. Situated in the breast of the Hochelaga village, the menu at this restaurant checks all of the essential boxes. A steamie & a poutine is my casse croute go-to so it was the #4 for me. If you're a lover of squeaky cheese curds this poutine is for you. I wasn't crazy about the gravy but it was a smashing poutine overall. Steamie hit the spot too. Service was fine & the price was right.
Yummy! The texture of the fries & cheese is amazing, & their sauce is delicious, not too salty. It's the perfect place for a quick but delectable poutine. The prices are fair. It can get pretty loud.
La Pataterie on Ontario Street is a great spot! I had the double cheeseburger & it was fantastic juicy, flavorful, & perfectly cooked. The prices were very reasonable, which is a huge plus, especially these days.
I'm definitely going back & can't wait to try the poutine; I've been told it's the best. If you're looking for classic comfort food that hits the spot without breaking the bank, this place is a must-visit!

Ordered a double bacon cheeseburger & poutine. The cheeseburger was good! Poutine was different... the sauce was watery, had a curry & cinnamon flavour to it- not your typical gravy. Visually it looked amazing, great ratio of cheese & fries! Would not order the poutine again the gravy wasn't my preference for poutine gravy.

Came here for the first time. I ordered large poutine which was serve very quickly. The sauce was great as well as the cheese. I wasn't a fan of the french fries. The interior was dirty but it also had that 90s charm to it that wasn't well kept. Staff was nice.
The best poutine we had during our visit in Montreal! We stopped in for lunch. We tried many poutines while visiting & La Pataterie had the best gravy! The cheese curds were squeaky & the fresh cut fries were crisp!
Poutine was the best I ever had. The gravy was so rich, you can tell it's homemade. We ordered hot dogs, onion rings, cheeseburger & a BLT. Everything was fresh & great quality. Honestly, I saw this place on social media from being rated top 3 poutine in Quebec, & after leaving, I'm shocked how this isn't #1 in the nation. Best diner in town
The poutine is classic !! Their sauce is iconic ✨ The burger as well is secretly delicious! A must try the poutine & then the cheese burger on the second try!
