Khyber Pass offers a warm, immersive Afghan dining experience with authentic flavors and generous portions. The table d'hôte is a standout value, delivering soups, mantoo, Ashak and Kabuli Palaw with tender lamb, all complemented by aromatic rice and thoughtful spices. The atmosphere blends cozy interiors with a welcoming back patio and decor that transports guests to Kabul, and the BYOB policy plus attentive service make for relaxed, memorable evenings.
Cozy restaurant with great Afghanistan food. I got the Kabuli Palaw with lamb shank, a very filling rice dish with spices & raisins making for a savory & fruity combination. The rice pudding was really good, it was sweet, floral, & subtle with warming cardamom spice.
I had the opportunity to dine at this fine establishment today & was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, very warm & welcoming. We were offered a choice of seating, indoor or outdoor terrace, we chose the latter. Small tables set in an enclosed back patio, created a cozy, relaxed setting. We were seated immediately & just as promptly, a server was at our table. Not a huge variety of choices on the menu, but interesting offers. We made our selections & were served each course wirh accuracy & basically no wait time by a very efficient & courteous server.
Everything was delicious. Another visit is anticipated in the near future.
We took two soups for an entree, which the lentil soup, I can say, was amazing! The main dish was kabuli polow with a lamb shank which just melts in the mouth with shredded carrots.
Definitely one of the best spots in the city.
Authentic Afghan dishes. Taste is true to traditional flavours & still delightful to western palates. High quality ingredients. Appropriate portions. No extreme spices or flavours. Beautiful atmosphere with traditional Afghan decorations & music. It's like a poetic journey to Kabul. Marti did an excellent job as waiter during what was clearly a busy evening.
Used to come to this place over 20 years ago when I was a student in Montreal. On a recent trip back with my family, I was delighted to see they are still in business. Went back for dinner, it was still delicious. What a place!
Had a lovely meal at Khyber Pass! The Kabuli Pulaw with lamb & the mantu were both delicious. The portion sizes were generous & the prices were reasonable, especially for the area.
Our waiter was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, & the terrace seating was a really nice touch, especially on a pleasant evening.
I do wish they served bolani & chapli kebab, which are some of our favorite Afghan dishes & would round out the menu nicely. Interestingly, most of the diners were not Afghan. Would go back if in Montreal!

Amazing food & customer service. The wait staff were very attentive. The atmosphere very peaceful & green (we were in the backyard). We ordered the lentil & Mashawa soup (very tasty), afghani dumplings (Mantoo), mourg chalaw (very tender) & Tikka kebab. If we had one more day in Montreal, would have gone back for their signature dish, the lamb shank.
I had Kabuli Palaw. It was delicious. They served complimentary bread with 3 dipping sauces. The service was as excellent & the outdoor seating area is great.
This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but they have the NICEST outdoor patio. The food was absolutely amazing & their rose, pistachio dessert was like a milky whipped dream. Delicious! They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own wine or beer & there's no corking fee! Highly recommend. The waiters were funny & super attentive. Enjoy!

Première expérience pour la cuisine afghane. Le décors & la musique du restaurant nous font voyager. Les plats sont très bons, ça vaut la peine de prendre la table d'hôte! Le staff est très gentil & amical. 😁
The combo meal that has soup, kabuli pulaw, keer, & tea is not only affordable but also very tasty, & the portion is very huge! I was not able to take photos, but I was very glad that I spent my birthday here & every special occassion.
This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. Wow, just amazing food. For the entrée we got the leek stuffed pasta, & it was amazing. For the main we got the quail, it was juicy & deliciously seasoned to perfection (apparently the spice mix is a secret that the chef keeps to himself!). We also got the lamb shank, it was so amazingly tender, falling off the bone. I've never eaten such delicious meat in my life. Just wow. The rose pudding felt like a soft cloud inside my mouth, aromatic with notes of pistachios & cardamon, perfect to finish the meal. I recommend going there when you're hungry, because the portions are quite big. The table d'hôte is quite worth it. Our waiter was very nice & fast. Overall an amazing experience. 10/10 highly reccomend.
