Review Summary

Reviews describe Khyber Pass as a warm, authentic Afghan dining experience with inviting decor, a relaxed atmosphere, and a terrace that shines in good weather. The food is consistently praised for rich, balanced flavors, generous portions, and staples like Kabuli Palaw, mantoo, and other traditional dishes that showcase Afghan cooking, with the BYOB policy adding value. The service is repeatedly highlighted as friendly, attentive, and efficient, and the setting blends rustic charm with cultural touches that feel transportive, especially on the garden terrace. Diners note reasonable prices for the large portions and the memorable ambiance that makes the experience feel special, often leading to plans to return to explore more of the menu. Overall, Khyber Pass stands out for authentic food, welcoming service, and a cozy atmosphere that makes it a go-to choice in the city.

Stumbled across this place while exploring the neighborhood on a visit to Montreal, & went in because we had never tried Afghan cuisine. Lucky for us they had 1 unreserved table. My wife & I each had a different lamb shank dish, & the lentil soup. From the flatbread they brought to the table, to the soup & the entrees, everything was exquisite. Khyber Pass was a definite highlight of out trip to Montreal. If we go back to the city, this restaurant will definitely be on the itinerary.

We were visiting Montréal for the day & wanted to have dinner somewhere nice. After doing some research on Google, we came across this restaurant that was highly rated (& for good reason). We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated quickly after walking in. They have a lovely outdoor patio in the back, which we chose to sit at as the weather was beautiful that evening. Service was friendly & fast, & the food options were all delicious. We tried a number of dishes, including soups, salads, & appetizers. Their main dishes were spectacular, & the food seemed to be prepared fresh. I wish I had more pictures to share, but we were hungry & didn't wait to take photos before digging in. I highly recommend trying this place out if you are considering doing so.

Do not miss out on the Kabuli Palaw (lamb shank). We also loved the Borani eggplant & the lentil soup.

FRESH! P.S: les toilettes sont propre.

Great food, good atmosphere, a great terrace in summer & reasonable price. It is BYOB which is great. Mashaba soup, Kabuli palow, chupan kebab & the rose pistachio pudding are amazing.

Had a delicious meal at Khyber Pass. The table d'hôte is very reasonably priced at 40$ & comes with soup, entrée, main course, & dessert. Everything was delicious! Tasty & healthy. Bring your own wine too which is super fun. 5/5!

I recently dined at Khyber Pass, an Afghan restaurant, & had a mixed experience. The lentil soup was delicious, & the Korma chalaw offered a variety of rice, though it was just okay & not much tasty, & the rice was a bit cold. The rose water pudding & tea were delightful. It's a small venue, so reservations are recommended. However, the overall experience felt overpriced. Bring your wine, as the restaurant doesn't offer alcoholic drinks.
