Review Summary

Reviews describe Khyber Pass as a warm, authentic Afghan dining experience with inviting decor, a relaxed atmosphere, and a terrace that shines in good weather. The food is consistently praised for rich, balanced flavors, generous portions, and staples like Kabuli Palaw, mantoo, and other traditional dishes that showcase Afghan cooking, with the BYOB policy adding value. The service is repeatedly highlighted as friendly, attentive, and efficient, and the setting blends rustic charm with cultural touches that feel transportive, especially on the garden terrace. Diners note reasonable prices for the large portions and the memorable ambiance that makes the experience feel special, often leading to plans to return to explore more of the menu. Overall, Khyber Pass stands out for authentic food, welcoming service, and a cozy atmosphere that makes it a go-to choice in the city.

Khyber Pass offers authentic Afghan cuisine served in a charming cave-like setting with stone walls, creating a memorable & intimate atmosphere. The menu features traditional dishes bursting with rich flavors & aromatic spices. The attentive service enhances the dining experience, making it a standout choice for exploring Afghan culinary delights in Montreal. A must try for those visiting.

Première expérience pour cuisine afghane. Excellent!

The kebabs are SO juicy. I just wish they didn't run out of ingredients all the time...

Amazing afghani restaurant! Delicious food, fantastic service, authentic & interesting decor. Our waiter was the most delightful young man & we were able to talk about our Persian connection. We ordered the mantoo to start, kofta, & chicken kabob. Everything was delicious, seasoned/spiced perfectly, & very filling. Will definitely come back again.

As an afghan girl myself who consumed afghan food all my life, i can confirm that this passed the vibes check & did hit the spot for the only time i didn't wanted to cook at home. The aush, the mantoo, the banjan borani & the kofta chalaw were 10/10. Very mazadar tashaku khyber team

This is the best Afghani food I've ever tasted till now. The service was good, the place is always full, make sure to reserve in advance, it's a bring ur own wine place, the inside is good as well, we really felt transported to Afghanistan! Prices are reasonable, it is the authentic Afghani place in Montreal so far. Enjoy the food! Cheers

I recently dined at Khyber Pass, an Afghan restaurant, & had a mixed experience. The lentil soup was delicious, & the Korma chalaw offered a variety of rice, though it was just okay & not much tasty, & the rice was a bit cold. The rose water pudding & tea were delightful. It's a small venue, so reservations are recommended. However, the overall experience felt overpriced. Bring your wine, as the restaurant doesn't offer alcoholic drinks.

Great spot for Afghan food in the mile end. I had the table d’hôte with Kabuli Palaw. The lamb was tender & fall off the bone, the rice was very flavourful. The rose pistachio pudding was delicious. BYOB, good portion size & the staff were kind & attentive.
