Review Summary

Overall, Khmer Express is described as a casual, quick service spot offering generous portions, fresh ingredients, and solid flavor across a range of Cambodian and Thai dishes, with staples like beef dishes, soups, spring rolls, pad Thai, and lok lak frequently highlighted as reliable favorites. Reviewers praise friendly, attentive service and good value, noting that meals travel well for takeout or delivery and that the kitchen generally keeps dishes warm and appealing. Some praise the recent changes under new ownership, citing improved service, updated menu, and a warmer atmosphere, while others feel that flavors, seasoning, and portion size have declined since reopening, alongside higher prices. Several comments mention inconsistency in seasoning and texture, particularly with certain meat dishes or fried items, and a few note issues such as insufficient pepper or altered components like imperial rolls. Despite mixed experiences, many guests still view Khmer Express as a top local option for quick, tasty meals, with repeat visits and recommendations to try different dishes.

Awesome little place. I love their beef soup & their spring rolls. I went there a bit before closing time yet the owner was very accommodating to me & my son. You could tell she cares about her business & her customers.

I lived 4 months in Siem Reap & regularly ordered Lok Lak, that was my favourite meal.

I have decided to try it out here. Funny enough but I find it unauthentic in a good way - beef here is better that I had in Cambodia ( don't know if it is a way of cooking or simply because quality of beef is superior in Canada ).

However what I liked more in Cambodia - they were very generous with Kampot's pepper! Here I feel like lack of pepper.

Overall liked the dish here, not the same I used to have in different places in Siem Reap, but still good enough.

10/10 would recommend. I've been several times & have always been pleased. The restaurant is clean, & the staff polite & efficient. The food is fresh & not overly seasoned....they let the food stand on its own merit! The portions are big & fair for the price. I recommend perhaps asking for take-out even if you plan to dine-in as the portions are large & they will charge you a small fee for takeout packaging. The Cha Loc Lac, Pad Thai, & beef soup are my go-to's snd they never disappoint. *****Edit: I've been twice since originally reviewing & I can say I will not be returning after the last time! The food is inconsistent in quality, flavour, & quantity. The shrimp pad Thai was overcooked including the noodles, the FIVE pieces of shrimp were bone dry & low-quality. For $17, a dish of mostly rice noodles should have more than five low-budget shrimp & you shouldn't have to Where's Waldo for the egg neither. There clearly is no passion for the food & it's evident after going several times as the dishes are hit or miss. Personally, they can miss me with that as I don't give my hard-earned money to establishments that don't appreciate my patronage, & don't seem to comprehend that in a business transaction the outcome needs to be satisfactory for both parties!*****
