Review Summary

Kaizen Manga Café is widely celebrated as a cozy, welcoming retreat for anime and manga enthusiasts looking for a relaxing environment to read, study, or socialize. The café earns consistent praise for its high-quality matcha drinks, particularly the signature raspberry and Okinawa sugar varieties, as well as a flavorful food menu featuring items like banh mi, onigiri, and ramen. Visitors frequently highlight the exceptionally kind and dedicated staff, noting that the inclusive atmosphere and community-focused approach make it a standout destination in downtown Montreal. While the space serves as an effective co-working hub for students and professionals, some patrons mention that it can become warm during the summer or noisy depending on the crowd, yet the overall consensus points to a charming, personality-filled gem that keeps people coming back for the unique experience and friendly service.

Loved the vibe of this cafe. The onigiris were yum & warm. Hot chocolate's so well done, better than some fancy cafes in the island, deeply chocolate-y, large mug, not too sweet. Great selection of manga. Service is attentive & easygoing. Also, they have cream puffs from Alice & Theo.

I originally didn't know how to feel about the 2$/h to sit down so me & my friend were trying to justify the membership (the lowest one being 10$/week to sit however long & not get charged the hourly fee) & why go there instead of a library or another coffee shop. As time went on, we slowly got the appeal, & once the drinks came, the cover fee felt like nothing. It was honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've ever had. I loved the drink so much I only realized now while making this review that i never took a picture of my drink 🥲. For a moment, it made me wish I was a student again, so I'd have a cool place to go in between classes. Can't wait for my next trip there!

As a matcha lover & someone that has tried her fair share of matcha in Montreal, I can confirm this place has the best matcha I have tried yet in the city. You can tell from the colour alone that it is of ceremonial grade. Needless to say the taste lives up to the visual. Now about the place, it is such a perfect place for manga lovers or folks who are interested in reading manga (like myself) to enjoy. They have a great selection, very cozy vibe, & the books are in great condition. Additionally, the system is something new in Montreal - instead of paying upfront for a drink, you pay 3.99 for an hour of unlimited reading & drinks (there are other combos available for those that want to eat something). Prices are reasonable & for ceremonial grade matcha, the price is extremely reasonable. The owner is lovely & a great conversationalist. You can tell they put great care into the place, the details of the place & you can feel their warmth in the place too.
