About

Kaizen Manga Café functions as a combined library and study space that bridges the gap between focused productivity and quiet leisure. The shelves house an extensive collection of manga, creating a distinct backdrop for the serene interior environment. On the menu, the diverse array of matcha drinks stands out, ranging from the bright notes of raspberry to the deep, molasses-like sweetness of Okinawa sugar. Savory offerings like crusty banh mi and neatly wrapped onigiri provide substantial bites for those immersed in their reading. The space maintains a character-filled atmosphere defined by its specialized focus on Japanese graphic novels and tranquil study nooks. This environment exists as a dedicated refuge for those looking to lose themselves in illustrated stories while enjoying carefully prepared refreshments in a calm, community-minded setting.

Kaizen Manga Café is widely celebrated as a cozy, anime-inspired haven in downtown Montreal that functions as both a relaxing hangout spot and a productive workspace. Visitors frequently praise the exceptional quality of the matcha drinks, with the raspberry and Okinawa sugar variations receiving consistent acclaim, alongside a tasty selection of food like banh mi, onigiri, and ramen. The atmosphere is consistently described as welcoming and inclusive, largely due to the friendly and dedicated staff who foster a strong sense of community. While some reviewers note occasional challenges with temperature or cleanliness, the overall consensus highlights the space as a perfect retreat for manga enthusiasts and students who appreciate the combination of a well-curated library, engaging social events, and a genuinely warm, personalized service experience.

Nice cafe to hangout with a friend & spend time creating sobering or reading mangas. Ok place to study or work but can be noisy if there's a big group. Solo or duo tables are quite small. What is ordered is brought out to you. The drink & food deal is good if you plan to stay for a long period of time. Matcha powder is of a good quality & the drink tastes amazing. Overall a great spot, would come back!

Very nice little cafe, i absolutely adoreee their Raspberry Matcha with the Raspberry cold foam, my favourite matcha ever!!! It is an insane flavour combo. Not really a cafe to go study (unless you have a pass/subscription to their other floor) but you can still sit down & eat or drink, they have two seats for that. Very nice employees & good service always!

I met the owner there today & they were so sweet! They explained the study space concept for students who want to work, eat/drink, & stay accountable. They have a form you can fill out to let them know how often you might want to checked on. You can set goals & stay on track that way! They have a 10% student discount which always appreciated. They have a TV, water station, & a full library of mangas to read or buy there. Their food is delicious & their matcha drinks are great! It's a perfect café to chill out or study in & the aesthetic is super cute too.

This place was great! A really simple concept that is well executed. This was my first time drinking matcha & I was certainly not disappointed, though, sadly, I forgot to take pictures for the review. The atmosphere is cozy, the drinks are great & the staff is super friendly, not to mention the wide variety of manga. I have been there once, but will definitely return. I highly recommend this place to anyone that just wants a place to read, study or simply chat with friends.

Great drinks (their matcha is a must try!) & awesome environment, it's the perfect spot to work or study.

They are a small family ran business & the owner is extremely kind & friendly, you can tell she puts a lot of effort into her menu & customer service. I love that they host events such as anime watching night & Japanese classes.

It's not just a cafe, it's a community!

Visiting from Alberta & it was really cute & welcoming surprise finding this place! Didn't know what to expect, but it's a cute environment to hang out, study, game, read manga, etc. but it was also a great place for a matcha latte & some HALAL food!!! :) (do have to pay per hour to read the Manga they have there but it's so low cost, worth it!). They also have popmart/blind box items there like labubus (if they aren't sold out)! I also really appreciate how the owner/staff have a system in place to help you study & stay accountable! ('Get Sh*t Done sheet). Staff & customers were very nice :) Will be coming back here next time we visit Montreal ❤? highly recommend for any Manga fans/university students looking for new friends/a new community!
