Kaizen Manga Cafe is described as a cozy, welcoming hub with a colorful, book-filled vibe that makes it great for studying, reading manga, or catching up with friends. The menu earns praise for standout matcha and coffee, tasty bites like banh mi and onigiri, and drinks such as raspberry matcha and mango yuzu sodas, with many noting the quality and presentation. A strong sense of community comes from attentive, friendly staff and a space that feels inclusive, with a flexible model that includes a member option and student discounts, plus weekday coworking and weekend events. Some reviews note the space can get warm without air conditioning and occasional inconsistencies in food seasoning or cleanliness, but overall the atmosphere, vibes, and value for manga lovers and students keep bringing people back. It is often described as a real gem and the go-to place to read, work, study, and enjoy drinks and bites.
I can't state enough how much I like Kaizen Cafe; it is like my second home :3
From the Wonderful Owner named Sara, the cozy atmosphere, the plentiful manga library, to the delicious food options (like Onigiri, Onirigi Katsu, Rice Bowl or even Ramen), to finish with the amazing Matcha drinks; there's truly something for everyone :D
& one thing is for sure; you won't leave Kaizen without a smile on your face & warmth in your heart

Great drinks (their matcha is a must try!) & awesome environment, it's the perfect spot to work or study.
They are a small family ran business & the owner is extremely kind & friendly, you can tell she puts a lot of effort into her menu & customer service. I love that they host events such as anime watching night & Japanese classes.
No air conditioning, extremely hot. $9 for a small matcha, not worth it. Went in because I saw they have a special on their instagram, cashier didn't bother to tell me about it & after I asked about the special he told me I already paid so…
Very nice matcha latte, especially with the okinawa sugar. I love it. I know this place from Yatai MTL & i tried the Matcha raspberry syrup there which is really good tooo but the portion is a lil bit small comparing to the price which is higher than other places.
Visiting from Alberta & it was really cute & welcoming surprise finding this place! Didn't know what to expect, but it's a cute environment to hang out, study, game, read manga, etc. but it was also a great place for a matcha latte & some HALAL food!!! :) (do have to pay per hour to read the Manga they have there but it's so low cost, worth it!). They also have popmart/blind box items there like labubus (if they aren't sold out)! I also really appreciate how the owner/staff have a system in place to help you study & stay accountable! ('Get Sh*t Done sheet). Staff & customers were very nice :) Will be coming back here next time we visit Montreal ❤? highly recommend for any Manga fans/university students looking for new friends/a new community!
Love this place! Great manga selection & vibes on game night are great. Very welcoming & friendly owner + staff. We were visiting from Ontario - great to see such a space for the community!
Okay so... this was my first time ever trying matcha - like, ever - & I'm so glad it happened at Kaizen Café I went for the raspberry matcha & OMG. It was smooth, lightly sweet, & actually so calming. Didn't expect to like it this much but now I totally get the hype. I also had one of their onigiris & it was warm, cozy, & comforting - the kind of snack that makes you feel like you're being taken care of.
The space itself is such a vibe - super chill, cozy, & somehow made me feel super productive. I even finished editing my Reel while I was there (rare win 😅).
& let's talk about Sara, the sweetest human ever. She made me feel right at home on day one. So welcoming, so kind - the kind of energy that makes you want to come back.
Which I did 👀On my second visit, I tried both the strawberry & mango matcha - & now I can't even pick a favorite. Each one has its own little vibe & I'm lowkey addicted.
Loved the vibe of this cafe. The onigiris were yum & warm. Hot chocolate's so well done, better than some fancy cafes in the island, deeply chocolate-y, large mug, not too sweet. Great selection of manga. Service is attentive & easygoing. Also, they have cream puffs from Alice & Theo.
The owner is amazing! She is so sweet & outgoing & it was the main reason for why I started coming back. Well now I'm obsessed & I even became a member !! So yes i 100% recommend :) Amazing music, the food is extremely good & their coffee/matcha is to diiee forr. (I recommend the brown sugar latte)
I originally didn't know how to feel about the 2$/h to sit down so me & my friend were trying to justify the membership (the lowest one being 10$/week to sit however long & not get charged the hourly fee) & why go there instead of a library or another coffee shop. As time went on, we slowly got the appeal, & once the drinks came, the cover fee felt like nothing. It was honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've ever had. I loved the drink so much I only realized now while making this review that i never took a picture of my drink 🥲. For a moment, it made me wish I was a student again, so I'd have a cool place to go in between classes. Can't wait for my next trip there!
